Dear colleague,
I kindly invite you and your students to join the fourth “International Summer School on Brain-inspired Computer Vision”, 21 – 25 July 2014 in Shenyang, China. After the very successful earlier editions, this again will be a tutorial master class by prof. Bart ter Haar Romenij, Northeastern University, Shenyang (‘hundred professor program’ international expert) and Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands. ISS 2014 is dedicated to state-of-the-art techniques in multi-scale and multi-orientation computer vision, based on recent insights in neuro-computational modeling, with applications in medical image analysis, robotics, traffic analysis, visual inspection etc. The lectures are combined with practical computer labs. See the website of the Summer School: http://tiny.cc/ISS-Shenyang2014 for the full program and topics discussed. Deadline for registration is 30 June 2014. Prof. Romenij is an award-winning educator and tutorial speaker. He authored an interactive tutorial book on multi-scale computer vision techniques, edited a book on non-linear diffusion theory in computer vision and initiated a number of international collaborations on these subjects. He is author of over 200 refereed journal and conference papers, 12 books and book chapters, and holds 2 patents. He supervised many PhD students, of which 4 graduated cum laude. He is senior member of IEEE, associate member of the Chinese Brainnetome consortium, governing board member of IAPR, and chairman of the Dutch Society for Pattern Recognition and Image Processing. Shenyang is a beautiful and historical city in the Northeast of China. Visits will be organized to the impressive Neusoft Medical Systems CT manufacturing plant and to the Ming dynasty Forbidden City in Shenyang. Shenyang is connected by frequent flights (1.5h) and high-speed trains (4.5h) to Beijing. We look forward to seeing you in Shenyang in July 2014! For the organizing committee: Prof. Yan Kang, PhD Dean Biomedical Informatics and Engineering School of Northeastern University Shenyang, China. |
