Second International WorkShop on Energy-Aware Systems, Communications and Security (EASyCoSe 2014) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- September 10-12, 2014, Salerno, Italy In conjunction with the 6th International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems (INCoS-2014) http://wpage.unina.it/fpalmier/EAsyCoSe2014/EAsyCoSe2014/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the last years, the increasing need for containing energy consumption has caught the interest of both the industrial and academic communities. In this scenario, the communication networks - and more generally the whole ICT world - may be considered both a significant energy consumer and a potential actor in steering a more clever usage of energy resources. These new challenges require innovative and effective optimization solutions for minimizing power consumption in the next generation telecommunication and computing systems, such as energy-efficient devices, resource scheduling algorithms and control plane protocols. On the other hand, energy awareness may also introduce new dimensions in security menaces since energy-efficient technologies may provide attackers with new opportunities for exploiting specific power-related vulnerabilities by introducing new energy-based denial of service attacks based on raising the target facility power consumption and consequently its green house gases (GHG) emissions and costs. The main goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners who are interested in addressing issues and challenges related to optimizing computing and networking system power consumption, energy-efficient systems, and energy-related security issues. Both theoretical papers and papers describing practical experiences will be welcome. The Workshop topics include (but are not limited to) the following: - Energy-efficient communication and computing technologies - Energy-aware networking architecture and protocols - Green wireless networking - Green Cognitive wireless networks - Energy-efficient Wireless access protocols and architectures - Energy-efficient Spectrum sensing and dynamic spectrum sharing - Green Cooperative communications - Cross-layer optimization for green networking - Standards and metrics for green communications - Energy-efficient management of network resources - Energy efficiency, Quality of Service, and reliability in ICT systems - ICT for smart grids - Energy consumption measurements, models, and monitoring tools - Energy-aware algorithms and application design - Green computing in multi core/many core systems - Intelligent Energy Management - Energy-aware runtime and middleware - Energy-efficient scheduling and resource allocation - Energy-efficient grid, cloud, and data center technology - Energy efficiency and virtualization - Energy-aware high performance computing and applications - Power Consumption Modeling of Security Protocols, Mechanisms and Countermeasures - Measurements and field trials on energy requirements of security mechanisms and devices - Security Mechanisms to protect energy-control facilities for green computers and nets - Security Weaknesses introduced by Green-enabled devices - Optimization of Power Consumption of Security Mechanisms - Ad-hoc security mechanisms for battery operated, or with limited power capacity devices - Energy Consumption Attacks Proceedings ----------- Workshops proceedings will be published by IEEE CS Conference Publishing Service and will be included in the IEEE Digital Library. Paper Submission ---------------- Please closely follow the manuscript preparation guidelines before submitting your paper: Step 1: Paper Submission For Review Please adhere to the following guidelines when preparing your manuscript for review. Authors are invited to submit full or short papers for presentation at the conference. Full papers (up to 6 pages) should present novel perspectives within the general scope of the conference. Short papers are an opportunity to present preliminary or interim results and are limited to 4 camera-ready pages in length. Short papers will be presented in a poster format and are published in the proceedings. All papers must include title, complete contact information for all authors, abstract, and keywords on the cover page. Please ensure that your paper is formatted in accordance with IEEE Computer Society's guidelines. Visit http://www.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formatting for detailed paper formatting instructions. Submit your paper using the EDAS submission system of the INCoS main conference by specifying "Submitted to the EASyCoSe 2014 WS". Each paper will undergo independent review by at least three reviewers. You will receive an e-mail notification of the outcome of this review. Step 2: Final Camera-Ready Paper Submission Please prepare the camera-ready version of the paper and complete the copyright form using IEEE format and submit them to IEEE Computer Society according to the author kit before the deadline. The author kit together with all the additional information needed to prepare the final version will be available on the INCoS 2014 main conference site. The maximum number of pages for contributions is 6 pages. For each paper, 2 additional pages are allowed at the additional fee of 100 EUROs per page.
