CALL FOR PAPERS - EXTENDED DEADLINE
Workshop on Big Data, Smart Data and Semantic Technologies (BDSDST 2015) at INFORMATIK 2015 http://www.fzi.de/en/aktuelles/bdsdst-2015 September 28 – October 2, 2015 Cottbus, Germany --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT DATES Paper submission deadline: May 3, 2015 (extended) Author Notification: May 18, 2015 Camera ready version: June 15, 2015 Workshop: September 29, 2015 AIMS The focus of BDSDST 2015 will be on potential of Big Data, Smart Data and semantic technologies in different application areas. Growing technical possibilities to gather and aggregate multi-modal data from sensors, mobile devices, social media, log files, cameras, microphones etc. provide useful information about the state and the environment of the data sources, but also result in large and complex data sets, which today are known as Big Data. When processed properly by right predictive and prescriptive analytic approaches, Big Data might carry huge amounts of useful information, which was not accessible before and allow for better-founded, more robust predictions and better decision-making. Combined with semantic technologies, which enable machines and people likewise to understand and share data and facilitate the interrelation and integration of data, content and processes in meaningful ways, the maximum potential of the gathered data can be exploited. Using Big/Smart Data as well as methods and tools based on semantic technologies can provide more transparency, enable precise and well-founded decisions and improve planning processes, particularly with regard to environmental and energy aspects, which will result in more sustainable and efficient processes and systems, especially in areas such as logistics, mobility and the Smart Grid. The BDSDST 2015 workshop shall bring together researchers and practitioners who use Big and Smart Data, preferably in combination with semantic technologies and shall support technology transfer from foundational research into practice. We also welcome sole contributions from Big Data, Smart Data or semantic Web research as those might stimulate the development of proper solutions for nowadays challenges. We explicitly encourage contributions tackling this challenge. SUBMISSION We invite researchers and practitioners from various fields in research and industry to submit original research, work in progress and industrial papers. Full papers must not exceed 12 pages. Short papers, work in progress and industrial papers must not exceed 8 pages. Submissions must be in PDF format and follow the LNI style guidelines (http://www.informatik2015.de/autoren-ressourcen.html). Contributions shall be submitted via Conftool online submission system at https://www.conftool.pro/informatik2015. Submissions will be reviewed by at least two program committee members. Accepted papers will appear in the (electronic) Lecture Notes in Informatics (LNI, http://www.gi.de/service/publikationen/lni/).
