The goal of the session is to outline the developments in RFID implementation in industrial
environments and highlight the most important issues that RFID technology has to overcome in the next years. RFID technology has been gaining popularity over the last years due to the reduction in cost, increase of capabilities and standardization efforts worldwide. Many organizations, companies and institutions are actively involved in the development and use of this technology, which has enabled a wide variety of applications, providing timely and accurate information for industrial and logistics processes. With massive RFID adoption, new challenges such as network planning, security and privacy issues or managing of data in the enterprise information infrastructures will have to be overcome. In addition, improvements in the physical layer, anti-collision protocols, and middleware will boost the use of these technologies. This special session will address these issues, and present the latest developments, trends, and industrial applications related to RFID technology. The research areas of relevance would therefore include, but not only limited to, the following topics: • Active and passive RFID anti-collision protocols • Middleware and integration in industrial production chains • Case studies, field trials, and industrial applications • Performance evaluation • New RFID technologies and standards • Network deployment and simulation • Data, information, and signal processing • Self-organization and topology discovery • Security and privacy • Network management • Platform implementation • Industrial applications of RFID The deadline and notification dates are published in the conference webpage. |
