We kindly invite you to participate in CAFE 2014. “Educating Race. Race, Ethnicity and Nationality in an Increasingly Interconnected World.” April 17-19, 2014, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)
The Californian Association of Freirean Educators (CAFE), and the Paulo Freire Institute UCLA are holding their 12th annual conference on April 17-19, 2014 at the University of California, Los Angeles . This year’s conference will join the numerous and growing voices criticizing racism and other systemic forms of oppression in the United States, and internationally, through a critical lens of education. CAFE 2014 will draw from the scholarship of nationally renowned scholars and practitioners and foster an open, collaborative, and creative space to critically analyze racism within education and highlight the power of education to address and combat oppression in society at large. The Conference will include lectures, panels, teacher training workshops, artwork, and other spaces for participants to dialogue. We are calling for abstracts from scholars, students, educators, and activists that are engaged in research, policy and practice that educates, shapes, and/or challenges issues of race, ethnicity, and nationality using a social justice framework. Submissions deadline: March 2, 2014 Please submit your abstract through our online submission form.
