Nowadays, Over-The-Top (OTT) multimedia services’ popularity keeps increasing. Video streaming already accounts for a large portion (over half, by some estimates) of all Internet traffic, and it its growing trend is expected to continue. These services typically have stringent performance requirements, if end-users are to enjoy acceptable levels of Quality of Experience (QoE). This poses significant challenges for network providers and in particular for mobile operators.
The main target of the special session is to bring together researchers from academia and industry, whose interests are related to understanding and managing the QoE of OTT services, as well as, to enhance the performance of networks and the multimedia services that run on them based on this understanding. Participants will have the opportunity to highlight and discuss technological challenges through interaction with peer researchers, exchanging ideas that fuel future research. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following areas: • QoE assessment for OTT services • QoE –based traffic Management • QoE Estimators • QoE-based service pricing • QoE-driven Optimization for online multimedia content delivery • Adaptive HTTP streaming techniques Author instructions: All submissions to this Special Session will be subjected to peer review coordinated by the Special Session Chair(s).
