Call For Papers

The First IEEE/IFIP International Workshop on Management of Fog Computing
May 11, 2015, Ottawa, Canada
IEEE IM 2015
(http://manfog.queenstrl.ca/)

co-located with the 14th IFIP/IEEE Symposium on Integrated Network and Service Management (IM 2015)

Description:

Cloud computing allows services to be hosted in data centers and can be remotely accessed by applications running on a mobile device. This architecture works well for many mobile applications, but is problematic for applications that are sensitive to network latency (e.g., augmented reality and video streaming). This architecture is also unsuitable for the Internet of Things (IOT) where sensors and actuators are embedded in physical objects that are linked to the Internet through wired and wireless networks. Sensors produce huge volumes of data and may be used in applications that span over a large geographical region and must react quickly in response to specific events. Potential applications include smart cities, smart buildings, healthcare, industrial control, intelligent transportation, emergency response and environmental monitoring. ManFog 2015 aims at providing an international forum for researchers to discuss and address management challenges.

List of topics include, but are not limited to:
-Trends and challenges related to Fog computing
-Distributed mobile applications/services (IOT, sensing, and context-awareness
-Resource management/allocation among Fog nodes, networks and clouds
-Virtualization and programming infrastructure
-Software defined networks (SDNs): architectures and protocols
-Localization mechanisms and algorithms related to Fog computing
-Computation offloading: strategies and techniques for Fog computing
-Managing data flows among Fog nodes and clouds
-Trust, security and privacy issues related to Fog computing and mobile cloud
-Energy and resource optimization in Fog computing
-Mobility and context-aware support for Fog computing
-Performance evaluation of Fog computing techniques and models t
