Special Issue on “Workflow Management in the Grid Era”

Overview
========
With the rapid development of grid computing, workflow technology, once a successful concept in the business domain, has also evolved into the grid domain as an enabling technology for large-scale computations over distributed resources. It is believed that workflow technology can accelerate the pace of scientific progress.

Although workflow systems have been demonstrated in a variety of scientific applications as well as in the business domain, the promise of workflow technologies is far from fully realized and there are still many requirements and challenges to be met, for example, dynamic and adaptive workflow, workflow reliability, and workflow reproducibility, to name but just a few.

This special issue aims at exhibiting the latest research achievement, findings and ideas in workflow management. Those contributions on workflow management in new (e.g., grid, cloud, pervasive, mobile, service) computing environments are especially welcome.

Topics of interest to this special issue include but are not limited to:
􀂋 Workflow infrastructure and middleware
􀂋 Compute/Data/Knowledge-intensive workflow management
􀂋 Data-driven workflow management
􀂋 Workflows in virtual organizations
􀂋 Workflow modeling techniques
􀂋 Workflow language, annotation and specification
􀂋 Automatic workflow generation and/or composition
􀂋 Workflow verification and validation
􀂋 Workflow enactment service (architecture, engines, …)
􀂋 Dynamic workflow control
􀂋 Exception handling and fault-tolerance in workflow management
􀂋 Adaptive and context-aware workflow management
􀂋 Workflow provenance
􀂋 Security aspects of workflow management
􀂋 QoS analysis of workflow systems
􀂋 Workflow mining and learning
􀂋 Workflow life cycle management
􀂋 Workflow enabled collaborative environments
􀂋 Empirical study of workflow applications

Submission Instructions
=======================
Authors are invited to submit original papers that have not been submitted in parallel to any other conferences or journals. Authors submitting papers from ASEA 2009 should include the paper detail (e.g., paper number and title) in their emails while submitting the paper. Papers submitted from ASEA 2009 should be extended with at least 30% new content added to the original paper.

The papers will be peer-reviewed and selected based on their quality, significance and relevance to the scope of the Special Issue. Please submit your papers to the Corresponding Guest Editor Dr. Jinlei Jiang (jjlei@tsinghua.edu.cn) and CC to (lei.shu@deri.org).

Papers must be prepared in PDF format. For the format and page limit of the manuscript, please see http://www.sersc.org/journals/IJSEIA/.
