International Conference on
Terminology and Multilingual Content for Industry and Trade –Global Best Practices– VII Seminario de Terminología y Contenido Multilingüe para la Industria y el comercio. T&SCIT 2014 Venue: EAFIT University, Medellin (Colombia) on 13-14 Nov 2014 The rapid growth of social and economic activities supported by the Web and especially through mobile technology - enhances the effectiveness of communication and information management at a global scale. However, new demands in all walks of life regarding data and information quality still need to be improved. Terminology – in the sense of terminology science and its applications – provides methods and best practices for an efficient creation of dynamic content and maintenance in social web environments. Terminology as a scientific discipline is a transversal field to areas such as information and communication sciences, specialized communication, knowledge organization, logic, applied linguistics, among others. Its approach is characterized from the outset by multilingual and multimodal concept representations. This second T&SCIT 2014 aims to bring practitioners in the use, creation and implementation of content in society and economics together with researchers who deals with terminology in different contexts such as eCommerce, eHealth, eLearning, eGovernment etc. Furthermore, the development trends have strongly taken the direction into mobile technologies and applications, recently. Best practices in research and applications will be at the core of the seminar. In order to achieve the goal of increasing efficiency and transparency on all kind of social and economic activities , extended methods are required to improve the way how all stakeholders involved in the electronic market manage, store and present data about their products and services. In other words, agreements in how products and services are named, classified, and stored are needed to prevent mismatches in communication and development. State-of-the-art content management could be harmonized according to scientific principles. Master Data Management (MDM) as a way of collection, storage, use and reuse of all kind of content (terms, measurements, product description, classification) related to institutions’ and organizations’ activities, affects every aspect of processes such as production, logistics (procurement, and distribution) marketing and sales, and maintenance, among others. MDM provides information to all levels of the organization, if it is built according to unified principles. It also improves efficiency in communication ensuring a better performance in the activities of the organization. This is a reality in which we now should engage and adapt with a view to best practices. Therefore, we are pleased to invite you to contribute to T&SCIT 2014 by proposing topics, papers and workshops under the following topics: (1) Terminology and Other Kinds of Multilingual Content in Industry and Trade (2) Best Practices and Applications of Content Interoperability - cost benefits of effectively using content within the enterprise and in its external relations (3) Standardization and certification concerning content resources and supporting international trade (4) Research and teaching practices in Colombia and abroad (5) Networking for Advancing Research and Development |
