For the past twenty years, the ACM Symposium on Applied Computing (SAC) has been a primary gathering forum for applied computer scientists, computer engineers, software engineers, and application developers from around the world. SAC 2010 is sponsored by the ACM Special Interest Group on Applied Computing, and is hosted this year by the University of Applied Sciences, Western Switzerland (HES-SO) in Sierre and Ecole Polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Lausanne.


* Human Computer Interaction (HCI) *

Human Computer Interaction (HCI) is an interdisciplinary study of interfaces and their use. On the user side, communications, graphic design, linguistics, anthropology, and cognitive psychology bring techniques relevant to maximizing user productivity, facilitating learning, and minimizing errors. On the computing side, techniques from Software Engineering (SE) and computer graphics, to name a few, make possible the realization of these carefully designed interfaces. Although interface specialists and software engineers routinely work in teams, we believe their collaboration is not explored and promoted as it could be, leading to better end-results. This track emphasizes perspectives of HCI and SE applied to HCI. That is, we’re interested in novel solutions for accessibility, design, engineering, management, and user experience of HCI. Additionally, we are also interested in methodologies, techniques, and tools of software design and development that assist users in absorbing and managing information on a variety of computational devices (i.e., SE applied to HCI). This is particularly challenging in domains such as safety critical systems, or using hardware constrained mobile devices.

We welcome original and unpublished research achievements including, but not limited to, the following topics:
* Accessibility
* Collaborative interaction
* Development methodologies, methods and techniques of HCI
* Domain-specific or end-user programming of HCI
* Formal models of interfaces requirements engineering
* Group and communities behavior modeling
* Intelligent and adaptive user interfaces
* Model-driven approaches (visual languages and environments) for HCI
* Software tools and environments to support HCI software development
* Usability
* User interface design
* User physiologic and cognitive modeling

in domains such as:
* Education and Training
* Mobile Computing
* Safety Critical Systems
* Ubiquitous Computing
* Universally Accessible Interaction and Inclusive Design


* Important dates and submissions *

A paper cannot be submitted to more than one track. Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not currently under review by workshops, conferences, or journals. All papers should be submitted online at the SAC 2010 website. Papers must be formatted according to the template provided in the SAC2010 website, and take into account the following:

* In order to facilitate blind review, the name(s) and address(es) of the author(s) must NOT appear in the body of the paper, and self-reference should be in the third person. This is to facilitate blind review. Only the title should be shown at the first page without the author's information;
* Papers should not exceed 4000 words;
* Authors should submit a separate cover sheet attached for each paper that includes the title of the paper, the name(s), affiliation(s), address(es), email(s), phone(s), and fax number(s) of the author(s).
* All accepted papers will be published in the annual conference proceedings and will be available at the conference. Note that accepted papers must fit within five (5) two-column pages, with the option to add three (3) more pages at an additional expense of 80 (eighty) USD per extra page.

September 8, 2009: Submission of papers by authors (STRICT DEADLINE);
