Special Track on Self-Regulation and Personalisation in Immersive Learning Environments (SPILE 2015)
at the Immersive Learning Research Network Conference iLRN Prague 2015 13th - 14th July 2015 Prague, Czech Republic http://immersivelrn.org/ilrn2015prague Call for Papers IMPORTANT DATES ============================= * Papers Submission deadline: 15st March 2015 * Author Notification: 15th April 2015 * Camera-ready deadline: 15th May 2015 * Main Conference: 13th – 14th July 2015 ============================= Shifting educational responsibilities from authorities to the individual learner becomes more and more important as educational foundation of our learning society. In the context of life-long-learning the Self-regulated Learning (SRL) concept integrates the benefits of learning, motivational components, and individual learning characteristics. It also includes and relates to learning on the meta-cognitive level, such as applied in collaborative or experiential learning. In technical learning environments SRL is often provided by giving the learner all freedom to control the own learning process and to manage the learning environment. In the context of Technology-enhanced Learning (TEL) this approach is also known as personalisation, meaning that the learner can adapt the learning environment to the own needs. On the other side, a more traditional meaning of the term personalisation addresses the feature of the learning environment to adapt itself to the learner’s needs and competences by using learner models. In addition to these two extremes, guidance and support for self-regulation can be offered by making visible the adaptation strategies through recommendations or open learner models. While a lot of research and implementation has been done by integrating self-regulation and personalisation in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Personal Learning Environments (PLE), there is still a lack of using these concepts in immersive learning environments. Therefore, the aim of this workshop is to gain insights and identify approaches on a conceptual and technical level, how self-regulation and personalisation can be facilitated and applied in immersive learning environments, such as virtual worlds or labs, computer simulations, virtual and augmented reality applications, also in the context of games and mobile environments. Technical implementations, studies, best practices, and conceptual approaches are welcome. This special track welcomes submissions on (but not limited to) the following topics in the context of immersive learning environments, such as: • Virtual worlds • 3D environments • Augmented reality • Online laboratories • Game-based environments • Mobile environments Track chairs ============================= Alexander Nussbaumer, Graz University of Technology, Austria Gudrun Wesiak, Know-Center, Graz, Austria Milos Kravcik, RWTH Aachen University, Germany Program Committee ============================= Roland Blach, Fraunhofer IAO, Stuttgart, Germany Vania Dimitrova, University of Leeds, UK Angela Fessl, Know-Center, Graz, Austria Margit Höfler, University of Graz, Austria Effie Law, University of Leicester, UK Alexander Mikroyannidis, Open University, UK Margit Pohl, University of Vienna, Austria Marcus Specht, Open University, The Netherlands Ioana Stanescu, Carol I National Defence University, Romania Christina Steiner, Graz University of Technology, Austria Carsten Ullrich, DFKI Berlin, Germany |
