Call For Papers

With the rise of touch and pen enabled phones and tablets, sketch recognition is regaining popularity and public presence, and more people are becoming aware of and interested in this difficult, but valuable, problem. This workshop, hosted at IUI 2014, will bring together the sketch recognition community to encourage exciting new research directions.

The objectives of the workshop will include: building a stronger and larger sketch recognition community; aligning sketch recognition with the IUI community; discussing new research highlights including challenges and successes on new platforms; encouraging data standardization and collaboration between attendees.

Call for Papers
Possible paper topics include, but are not restricted to:

•Sketch Recognition Algorithms
•Sketch Recognition Applications
•Comparisons between pen and touch input
•User Interface Issues
•User Studies
•Multimodal Interfaces that include Sketch Recognition
•Editing and Display Concerns in Sketch Recognition Applications
•Algorithm Comparisons
•Research Overviews
•Problem Statements
Paper submissions should be 4-10 pages in the HCI Archive format. Papers will be selected for a long talk, short talk, or poster presentation.

Call for Demonstrations
Participants are also urged to submit demos of previous work to the demo session. Demonstration submissions should be 1-4 pages in the HCI Archive format.
