================================================================ Special Issue on Fuzzy Logic in Biomedicine, Computers in Biology and Medicine, Elsevier. 5-Year Impact Factor: 1.359 ================================================================ I. AIM AND SCOPE In recent years, computational intelligence has been used to solve many complex problems by developing intelligent systems. Fuzzy logic has proved to be a powerful tool for decision-making systems, such as expert systems and pattern classification systems. Fuzzy logic has made its way into general medicine, biomedical engineering, bioinformatics as well as diagnosis and treatment. The complexity of medical practice makes traditional quantitative approaches of analysis inappropriate. In medicine, the lack of information, and its imprecision, and, many times, contradictory natures are common facts. The current application areas of control engineering in medicine constitute a wide spectrum ranging from simple dosage prescription schemes to highly sophisticated adaptive controllers. This special session aims to provide an opportunity for international researchers to share and review recent advances in the foundations, integration architectures and applications of fuzzy logic in Biomedical engineering, medicine and bioinformatics. ================================================================ II. TOPICS COVERED Authors are invited to submit their original and unpublished work in the following applications of Biomedical engineering, medicine and bioinformatics. Topics including (but not limited to): Fuzzy logic Fuzzy Expert Systems Intelligent control systems Robust control systems Adaptive Control Fuzzy Modeling and Simulation Neuro-fuzzy approaches Reliability of fuzzy and neural components Hardware implementation of neural and fuzzy systems for measurements Evolutionary algorithms for system optimization and calibration Hybrid systems Estimation, identification and its application to control design Type-2 fuzzy control for biomedical systems Type-2 classification/clustering ================================================================ III. IMPORTANT DATES March 30, 2014: Submission deadline May 30, 2014: Notification of the first-round review July 31, 2014: Revised submission due ================================================================ IV. SUBMISSION Manuscripts should be prepared according to the instructions of the journal and can be found (here) and submission should be done through journal website: http://ees.elsevier.com/cbm and clearly mark “Fuzzy logic in Biomedicine” as comments to the Editor-in-Chief. All submitted manuscripts will be reviewed using the standard procedure that is followed for regular submissions. ================================================================ V.
