Special Issue on the theme of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) (September 2016 issue)

Journal of Education for Sustainable Development (JESD) announces a call for papers and invites manuscripts for its forthcoming issue 10.2 (2016) on the theme of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).

SDGs refer to an agreement of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development – Rio+20 – held in June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro to develop a set of future international developmental goals, which will build upon the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and converge with the post 2015 development agenda. It was decided to establish an ‘inclusive and transparent intergovernmental process open to all stakeholders, with a
view to developing global sustainable development goals to be agreed by the General Assembly’.

With the SDGs expected to come into force in September 2015, JESD is planning to bring out its issue 10.2 as a special theme issue on ‘SDGs and ESD’.

JESD specifically invites papers that examine the role and impact of education and communication in terms of case studies, pedagogy, policy, research, indicators and evaluation in actively promoting and achieving progress in any or all of the newly identified SDG areas.
