Special Issue of Informatica on Large Data Management in the Cloud
Call for Papers The huge volumes of data in the cloud pose new challenges, including big data storage, distributed data caching, data stream processing, facilities for analytical processing, and online query processing. Meanwhile, the emergence of large data centers have created pay-as-you-go model, where businesses and individuals can rent storage and computing capacities, rather than make significant investments to construct large-scale computer facilities. Cloud computing has become a pillar of sustainable green computing, and data management in the cloud plays a key role. Whilst these emerging services have substantially reduced the cost of data storage and delivery, there is significant complexity involved in ensuring that they can sustain consistent and reliable operations under peak loads. This trend brings new and complex technical challenges in the areas of data management. This special issue aims to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas and progress in the cloud data management area. This includes methodology, architecture and utility, particularly related to the use of cloud computing technologies and the presentation of future trends. We invite the submission of high-quality papers describing future potential or ongoing work. The issue will carry revised and substantially extended versions of selected papers presented at the Fifth World Congress on Information and Communication Technologies (WICT 2014) and the Ninth International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications (ISDA 2014), but we also strongly encourage researchers unable to participate in the conferences to submit articles for this call. Suitable topics include but are not limited to: -Cloud data management -Cloud based infrastructure for big data storage and computing -Emerging architectural frameworks for Big Data -Data intensive scalable computing in the cloud -Innovative data-intensive computing applications -Grid and stream computing and system for big data -Big data processing -Data stream processing -Big data as a service Instructions for Authors All submissions will be peer-reviewed by at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the domain. Prepare your manuscript according to the Informatica instructions for authors (http://www.informatica.si/instructions_for_authors.htm). Submit your contribution by e-mail to: ise_mak@ujn.edu.cn with Large Data Management in the Cloud in the subject. Deadlines Submission: 15 December, 2014 Notification: 30 February, 2015 Submission of revised papers: 15 March, 2015 Publication: mid 2015.
