-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3D-MMWN 2013 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- International Workshop on 3D Multimedia for Mobile and Wireless Networks (3D-MMWN) http://www-l2ti.univ-paris13.fr/~3D-MMWN/ To be held in conjunction with IEEE WiMob 2013 October 7th, 2013 Lyon, France -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scope: ------ The recent advances in 3D display and the progress in 3D video/audio coding techniques have accelerated the growing popularity of 3D multimedia applications. From 3D TV and video projectors, to 3D games consoles or Immersive spatial audio systems, there are plenty of 3D enabled terminals and systems that are now commercialized and commonly used. 3D multimedia brings to the user a better immersive experience. Portable 3D terminals and mobile network technologies can improve further this experience, allowing the user to move and interact with the immersive environment without being constrained by wired links. Yet, network mechanisms have still to be carefully designed in order to support 3D contents in wireless and mobile environments. Most of 3D multimedia applications are highly bandwidth demanding. They are often time sensitive, given the interactive nature of most of nowadays 3D applications. These are obviously two QoS constraints that are very challenging to satisfy in wireless networks. Other issues are also related to the limited resources on mobile terminals, like processing capacity or energy lifetime. On the other side, 3D content creation, format, scalable coding, compression and network-adaptive techniques have to be adjusted to take into consideration the specificities of wireless links and mobile networks architectures. Last but not least, the acceptability of 3D multimedia applications for mobile users is subject of a better understanding and monitoring of the Quality of Experience. The 3D-MMWN workshop aims to address the issues related to the support of 3D multimedia applications in wireless and/or mobile environments. Challenges related to 3D content creation, adaptation, transmission and rendering for mobile/wireless environments would be of interest. To ensure complete coverage of the advances in this field, the 3D-MMWN workshop solicits original contributions in, but not limited to, the following topical areas: - 3D Video/Audio processing and coding for mobile and wireless networks - Network architectures, protocols and mechanisms for 3D content transmission over wireless links - Cross-layer design for wireless 3D multimedia streaming - Perceptually-driven adaptive 3D multimedia transmission over wireless networks - 3D formats and standards for mobile terminals and wireless links - 3D content acquisition, including 3D Camera for Wireless Sensor Networks - 3D display and rendering technologies for portable terminals - Error resilience and concealment in 3D audio/video for wireless channels - Subjective and objective quality monitoring and modeling of QoS-QoE in wireless immersive multimedia - 3D mobile/wireless multimedia applications, including 3D TV, immersive environments, 3D ambisonic spatialization, mixed/augmented reality, portable 3D mobile games, 3D camera for WSN etc. 3D-MMWN 2013 Workshop welcomes submissions of high-quality full papers which at the time of submission, are not under review and have not already been published or accepted for publication elsewhere. All accepted papers will be published in the IEEE WiMob 2013 conference proceedings and will be accessible via IEEE Xplore Digital Library. Submission Process: ------------------- Authors are required to submit fully formatted papers (PDF), with graphs, images, and other special areas arranged as intended for the final publication. Papers should be written in English conforming to the IEEE standard conference format (8.5" x 11" - US letter, Two-Column). The first page should include the paper's title, the abstract, a list of keywords indicating the paper's topic area(s), the authors' full names, affiliations, and e-mail addresses. The final manuscript for publication will be limited to 8 IEEE pages. Papers must be submitted online through EDAS via the following link: https://edas.info/newPaper.php?c=15027&track=33271 Submitted papers will undergo a peer review process. Submission of a paper for review will be considered your agreement that at least one author will register at the full registration rate to IEEE WiMob 2013 conference and will present the paper during the 3D-MMWN workshop if your paper is accepted. The registration for IEEE WiMob 2013 is a single package that includes both the main conference and workshop sessions. Each registration will cover one accepted paper. IEEE WiMob Executive Committee reserves the right not to include in IEEE Explore the papers that are not presented at the worskhop. For other inquiries about registration of authors of accepted papers, please visit: WiMob2013 registration link: http://conferences.computer.org/wimob2013/registration.html Important dates: ---------------- - Paper submission deadline: July 1, 2013 - Notification of acceptance: July 15, 2013 - Camera ready paper due: July 24, 2013 - Author registration by: August 15, 2013 Invited Journal Papers: ---------------- All accepted papers in 3D-MMWN will be invited to submit an extended version of their manuscript to the Springer's Multimedia Systems Journal (MMSJ) - Special Issue on 3D Multimedia for Mobile and Wireless Networks.
