MANLIBNET, with a view to bring about social change, design entrepreneurial new services, create new fundraising programmes and incorporate innovation & entrepreneurial spirit into a variety of activities in the libraries, choose the theme Entrepreneurial Approaches to Librarianship for the conference. Librarians may pursue entrepreneurial approaches by developing and implementing their ideas within their institutions, while others may step outside the doors of the library, starting new businesses which serve the library market. Entrepreneurial librarians can flourish in the digital age, embrace technology with creative energy and leads them to redefine and reinvent systems and services. The conference aims at documenting the current state of entrepreneurship in libraries, inspiring future entrepreneurial pursuits among the librarians and providing a roadmap and inspiration for future endeavours.

Original papers on the areas of interest are invited. The list is indicative and not exhaustive in coverage. The contributor can include any other topic falling under the broad gamut of the main theme of the conference.

Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI) and Management Libraries Network (MANLIBNET) are jointly organized the conference.

Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI)
An acknowledged National Resource Institute for Entrepreneurship Education, Research, Training & Institution Building. Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI), an autonomous and not-for-profit institute, set up in 1983, is sponsored by apex financial institutions - the IDBI Bank Ltd., IFCI Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd. and the State Bank of India (SBI). The Government of Gujarat pledged twenty-three acres of land on which stands the majestic and sprawling EDI campus. To pursue its mission, EDI has helped set up twelve state-level exclusive entrepreneurship development centres and institutes. One of the satisfying achievements, however, was taking entrepreneurship to a large number of schools, colleges, science and technology institutions and management schools in several states by including entrepreneurship inputs in their curricula. In order to broaden the frontiers of Entrepreneurship Research, EDI has established a Centre for Research in Entrepreneurship Education and Development (CREED), to investigate into a range of issues surrounding small and medium enterprises sector through its publication, The Journal of Entrepreneurshop. CREED also establishes a network of academicians, researchers and trainers by conductive a biennial conference on entrepreneurship.
In the international arena, efforts to develop entrepreneurship by way of sharing resources and organising training programmes, have helped EDI earn accolades and support from the World Bank, Commonwealth Secretariat, UNIDO, ILO, FNSt, British Council, Ford Foundation, European Union, ASEAN Secretariat and several other renowned agencies. Under the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India assignment EDI established Entrepreneurship Development Centres in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam. In recognition of its international achievements, the United Nations Economic & Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (UN-ESCAP), Bangkok, Thailand, has declared EDI as a 'Center of Excellence'.

Management Libraries Network (MANLIBNET)
MANLIBNET was initiated in year 1998 at the first convention held in Ahmedabad which was jointly organised by the IIM Ahmedabad and Ahmedabad Management Association. This was followed by a series of conventions and seminars at various places including IMT, Ghaziabad; IIM Lucknow; IIM Kozikhode; XLRI, Jamshedpur; NIFM, Faridabad; Nirma University, Ahmedabad; ICSSR, Mumbai & Delhi; KIIT University, Bhubaneshwar; SSIM, Secundrabad; IIHMR, Jaipur; University of Delhi South Campus and IIM Indore.
MANLIBNET was established for sharing of resources and information among the libraries by fostering a spirit of cooperation and weaving these together in a networking arrangement. The primary objective of MANLIBNET is to provide a common forum to the professionals, and to develop understanding and co-operation, particularly among management and business libraries.
MANLIBNET promotes outstanding library practices by identifying the Best Librarian from information professionals' community and recognizes the best academic work on an annual basis. For the first time in the history of LIS profession, MANLIBNET initiated Librarian Development Programme (LDP) for librarians, knowledge managers and information professional community in the year 2008. MANLIBNET strongly believes that such LDPs would help to sharpen the technical and managerial skills of LIS professionals.
