Call For Papers | |||||||||||
Dear Colleagues,
Proposals for Papers, Sessions and Workshops are now being accepted for The 41st Annual Conference of the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) to be held on April 25-29, 2013 in Pasadena, California. We welcome submissions from librarians, visual and media resource specialists, archivists, curators, museum professionals, educators, artists, designers, architects, historians, researchers, practitioners and others. The submission deadline is Friday June 22, 2012. The conference theme, Crafting Our Future, is inspired by Pasadena's renowned arts and crafts heritage and emphasizes the importance of building upon our past as we actively shape the future of art librarianship. In keeping with this theme, the Pasadena Conference Program Committee intends to schedule programs that will engage attendees in dynamic dialogues around the issues and topics that are the most important to all of us. The Toronto Evaluation Survey respondents also made it very clear that they desire more time to discuss and explore topics that are introduced at the conference. To meet these needs, the conference committee will explore the integration of the unconference. The ARLIS/NA conference has explored the unconference concept in previous years with formats such as "lightning talks" and AskARLIS. We plan to further integrate the unconference concept into our "traditional" conference format. Adapting unconference formats will create opportunities for peer-to-peer learning, collaboration, creativity, and discussion of up-to-the-minute trends that will meet the needs of conference attendees in 2013. Individuals and groups are invited to submit proposals that will elicit critical exchange and debate and support opportunities for interaction between participants, as well as those that offer practical advice and solutions to the many challenges facing the profession. Further information regarding papers, sessions, and workshops can be found within the detailed online submission forms.
