Call For Papers

The Annual IEEE/IFIP International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks (DSN) is the most prestigious international forum for presenting the very best research results, problem solutions and insights on new challenges in the field of dependable computing and security. These challenges have been important in the IT society and is essential to economy prosperity and stability and personal safety. This edition of DSN will be the first innitiative in the south hemisphere and will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – marvellous city. Authors are invited to submit original papers on the research and practice of creating, validating, deploying, and maintaining dependable and secure systems and networks.

We are planning a rich program for DSN 2015, including plenary talks, regular papers, experience reports, panels, student forum, fast abstracts, industrial track, demonstrations of tools and technologies, debate sessions, together with state-of-the-art workshops and a tutorials. We need your contribution and participation to make it a successful event!!

All aspects of dependable and secure systems and networks are within the scope of DSN, including innovative architectures, protocols and algorithms, as well as, experimentation with and assessment of dependable and secure systems.

DSN’s current thematic areas of emphasis are:

Hardware (e.g. microprocessors; VLSI; storage systems; and nanoscale systems)
Software (e.g. applications; middleware; and operating systems)
Cyber-physical systems (e.g. embedded systems; networked embedded systems; SCADA; automotive, aerospace, and medical systems; and smart grid)
Socio-technical systems (e.g. virtual worlds; human-computer interaction; usable security; and online social networking)
Clouds (e.g. cloud storage, computing, platforms, and applications)
Networks (e.g. wireless networks; mobility; next-generation networks; and software-defined networking)
Models and methodologies for programming, evaluating, and assessing dependable and secure systems (e.g. performance, dependability and security evaluation; analytical and numerical methods; simulation; experimentation; benchmarking; verification; field data analysis; and data mining techniques)
DSN welcomes Research Papers, Practical Experience Papers, and Tool Descriptions in any of these thematic areas. Innovative papers in other areas of dependable and secure systems and networks will also be considered. Papers will be assessed with criteria appropriate to each category. The conference favors work that explores new territory, continues a significant research dialogue, or reflects on experience with (or measurements of) state-of-the-art implementations. Submissions will be judged on originality, significance, correctness and impact.

DSN annually presents the William C. Carter Award to the best accepted paper that is based on a Ph.D. thesis.

Information to authors

Innovative papers in other areas of dependable and secure systems and networks will also be considered. Papers will be assessed with criteria appropriate to each category. The conference favors work that explores new territory, continues a significant research dialogue, or reflects on experience with (or measurements of) state-of-the-art implementations. Submissions will be judged on originality, significance, correctness and impact.

Research Papers, Practical Experience Reports, and Tool Descriptions will be refereed and included in the Proceedings of the DSN 2015, if accepted.

All contributions must be written in English. IEEE Computer Society will publish accepted contributions.

Details for industrial papers student forum and fast abstract contributions can be checked in the conference webpage.

Workshop and Tutorial proposals focused on the topic(s) addressed by the conference are also welcome.
