In recognition of the USPTO’s Patents for Humanity program, we will be publishing a special issue highlighting influential humanitarian technologies, including the innovation and imagination seen in the Patents for Humanity contest submissions.
To this end, T&I is soliciting abstracts for articles or commentaries on humanitarian patents. We hope that all finalists of the Patents for Humanity contest will consider contributing to the issue. Abstracts should be submitted by August 1, 2013. The abstract submission should contain: title, author affiliation, abstract of no more than 250 words, key words, and corresponding author’s contact information. All submissions should meet Technology and Innovation’s author instructions and should be submitted through T&I’s website, http://submissions.academyofinventors.org/index.php/journal/about/. Articles should concern patented technologies or innovations that have made/have the potential for making significant contributions to humanity. Articles may include commentaries by field experts concerning patents, original articles describing the development and research towards a technology or patent, and/or narrative-like stories that emphasize the societal benefits of select innovations. Submissions may include (but are not limited to) the following topics: • Economics of a technology, governmental and policy action, and innovation • Environmental impact of various technologies/patent types • Health impacts of technologies and innovations • Analyses of the distribution and access to technology If you have any questions, please contact Editorial Assistant Diana Vergara at TIJournal@research.usf.edu. Technology and Innovation is published by Cognizant Communication Corporation. Technology and Innovation - Proceedings of the National Academy of Inventors®, published by Cognizant Communication Corporation (NY), is a forum for presenting information encompassing essentially the entire field of applied sciences with a focus on transformative technology and academic innovation. In addition, we are pleased to feature an article from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in every issue. |
