The Third International Workshop on GeoStreaming (IWGS 2013)
November 5, 2013, Orlando, Florida http://persis.usc.edu/iwgs13/ in conjunction with The 21st ACM SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems (ACM SIGSPATIAL GIS 2013) CALL FOR PAPERS AIM AND SCOPE Thanks to advances in geosensing technologies, real-time data acquisition through sensors and imagery devices has been widely deployed with many applications. In addition to temporal information, in many cases such acquired data streams include information about geographical locations and/or spatial extents (such as point coordinates, lines, or polygons). While collecting such so-called “GeoStream” data has been a major propeller to advance the state of the art in geographic information systems, efficient and effective processing, analyzing, and mining GeoStream data pose many challenges. This workshop addresses the research communities in both stream processing and geographic information systems. It brings together experts in the field from academia, industry and research labs to discuss the lessons they have learned over the years, to demonstrate what they have achieved so far, and to plan for the future of geostreaming. We encourage researchers from academia and industry to submit papers that highlight the value of stream query processing on topics that include, but not limited to the following: Spatio-temporal stream systems Spatio-temporal stream query processing Real-time mining of spatial and spatio-temporal data Location-aware stream systems Privacy preserving in mobile object databases Traffic monitoring and prediction Geosensing technologies and their application Geosampling and probabilistic spatial stream query processing Real-time geographical information extraction and retrieval Geosocial networks Main memory and/or real time indexing of moving objects Real-time spatial data visualization Spatio-temporal stream processing on cloud Participatory spatio-temporal data streams and Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) systems Use of hardware acceleration in real-time stream processing The use of stream processing in traffic management, aerospace, earthquake physics, geodynamics, weather forecasting, asset management and scientific applications ORGANIZERS Farnoush Banaei-Kashani, banaeika@usc.edu , University of Southern California (USC) Anas Basalamah, ambasalamah@uqu.edu.sa , Umm Al-Qura University Chengyang Zhang, Chengyang.Zhang@teradata.com , Teradata PROGRAM COMMITTEE Walid Aref, Purdue University Yannis Drougas , ESRI Michael Gertz, Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg Yan Huang, Uniuversity of North Texas Vana Kalogeraki , Athens University Mohamed Mokbel, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities Silvia Nittel, University of Maine Timos Sellis , RMIT University, Australia Ankur Teredesai , University of Washington, Tacoma Vassilis Tsotras , University of California, Riverside Anand Ranganathan, IBM IMPORTANT DATES Paper Submission Deadline: August 23, 2013 Notification of Acceptance: September 13, 2013 Camera-Ready Submissions: September 20, 2013 Workshop Date: November 5, 2013 |
