CALL FOR PAPERS:
Journal of Software: Evolution and Process (JSEP)
SPECIAL ISSUE on Source Code Analysis and Manipulation
* Submission deadline: 27th January, 2013 *

----------------
THEME AND TOPICS
----------------

This special issue provides researchers and practitioners with an
opportunity to present theory, techniques and applications which
concern analysis and/or manipulation of the source code of computer
systems. While much attention in the wider software engineering
community is properly directed towards other aspects of systems
development and evolution, such as specification, design and
requirements engineering, it is the source code that contains the only
precise description of the behaviour of the system. The analysis and
manipulation of source code thus remains a pressing concern.

In this special issue we welcome contributions in the field of source
code analysis and manipulation. Topics of interest include, but are
not limited to:

* program transformation
* abstract interpretation
* program slicing
* source level software metrics
* decompilation
* source level testing and verification
* source level optimization
* program comprehension

-----------
SUBMISSION
-----------
The deadline for submissions is 27th January, 2013.

We solicit high-quality papers on these themes and topics to appear in
this special issue. This call for papers is open to all potential
authors, in addition to those of extended submissions from the 12th
IEEE International Working Conference on Source Code Analysis and
Manipulation (SCAM 2012 http://www2012.ieee-scam.org/)

All submitted papers will undergo a rigorous peer review process. Each
submission will be reviewed by at least three reviewers and will be
selected based on originality, quality, soundness and relevance. In
particular, the extended paper from SCAM2012 should be non-trivially
extended from the version that appears in the conference (at a very
minimum it should contain 30% new material). Authors will be asked to
write an accompanying letter explaining how their conference paper has
been extended to meet this requirement and how referees' comments and
the discussion during the conference about their work have been
addressed.

Please submit your paper electronically using the Journal of Software:
Evolution and Process manuscript submission site. Select "Special
Issue Paper" and enter "Source Code Analysis and Manipulation" as
title (http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/jsme).

Submissions should be formatted according to the Journal of Software:
Evolution and Process guidelines
(http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/10.1002/(ISSN)2047-7481/homepage/ForAuthors.html).
