The ninth annual IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and
Engineering (IEEE CASE 2013), sponsored by the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), will be held from August 17 to 21, 2013, in Madison, WI, USA. IEEE CASE represents the flagship automation conference of the IEEE RAS and constitutes the primary forum for cross-industry, multidisciplinary research in automation. The goal of the conference is to provide a broad coverage and dissemination of foundational research in automation among researchers, academics, and practitioners. The technical program of IEEE CASE will consist of workshops, invited talks, posters, paper and abstract presentations. Both papers and presentations describing original work on abstractions, algorithms, theories, methodologies, and case studies are invited. First time this year, the IEEE CASE will accept both full papers and presentation abstracts. The accepted full papers will be published in the conference proceedings. The theme of the conference is Automation in Practice. The topics include but are not limited to: Foundations of Automation; Agriculture; Life Sciences and Health Care; Automation in Meso, Micro and Nano-scale; Manufacturing Automation; Discrete Event Systems; Scheduling and Optimization; Mechatronics; Industrial Informatics; Sustainable Production; Logistics and Supply Chain Management; Networked and Control Systems; Power and Energy Systems; Smart Buildings; and Emerging Topics in Automation. IEEE CASE is an offspring of the journal IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering (www.ieee.org/t-ase). High quality CASE papers will be recommended for publication in the Transactions.
