EXTENDED CALL FOR PAPERS The International Workshop on Data Mining Application in Biologically Inspired Databases (Bioinsp’ 2013) In Conjunction with the VLDB- 17th East-European Conference on Advances in Databases and Information Systems (VLDB-ADBIS 2013), September 1-4, 2013 - Genoa, Italy. Website: http://bioinsp.tk [Apologies if you receive this more than once] ####################################################################### Accepted papers will be included by volume of Springer in the Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing series (http:www.springer.com/series/11156). The best workshop papers will be invited to submit an extended version for publication in the LNCS TLDKS Journal (Transactions on Large Scale Data and Knowledge-Centered Systems), which is indexed by DBLP and Scopus. A special issue will be on BMC Journal of ICT for Health and Development (http:www.biomedcentral.com/journals). ################################ AIM AND SCOPE OF WORKSHOP ################################ Data Mining has been used intensively and extensively to discover novel and deep insights of healthcare and clinical databases, to facilitate unprecedented understanding of large biomedical datasets. Today’s data mining provides multifaceted environment in knowledge discovery to transform the data into useful information for futuristic decision making. 1. Bring together researchers (from both academia and industry) as well as practitioners to present their latest ideas and discuss some future directions 2. Provide a forum where expertise can discuss important contributions towards or research on data mining and its application in biological and/or medical data 3. Attract healthcare providers to discuss hidden biomedical and healthcare patterns for clinical use of data 4. Enhance interaction among data mining and its application within healthcare in major areas of treatment effectiveness, management of healthcare, customer relationship management, and relationship among drugs +++++++++++++++++++ Topics of Interest +++++++++++++++++++ Paper submissions should be related but not limited to the following topics: TOPICS INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO • The combination of Social and biomedical standards in healthcare systems. • Algorithm designing and implementation in healthcare databases • Spatial, temporal and sequential medical data mining • Data mining tools for analysis of biomedical data • Medical Imaging • Bio-statistical analysis of heath or clinical records • Clinical application of data mining for decision making • Various scalability techniques for processing of large databases • Ontology based study in context to data mining • Data mining with relevance to prognosis of disease • Framework for mining complex and large data, e.g. a combination of experimentation, images, and genomic samples • Knowledge based clinical data models • Visualization and imaging of medical data +++++++++++++++ Important dates +++++++++++++++ Paper Submission: 20 April 2013 Notification: 10 May 2013 Camera-ready: 30 May 2013 Workshop: 1-4 September 2013 *** Paper Format *** Each submitted chapters should include an abstract up to 200 words. Authors are strongly encouraged to use Springer LNCS/LNAI manuscript submission guidelines (http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html) for the initial submissions. Also, Chapters must be prepared according to the AISC style template, including figures and bibliography. *** Submission Guidelines *** Abstracts/Chapters can be submitted before the due date via EasyChair. The submitted papers must not be previously published anywhere, and must not be submitted to any other conferences during the review process. Submitting a paper to the conference means that if the paper were accepted, at least one author will attend the workshop in Bioinsp' 2013to present the paper. +++++++++++++++++++++ Organizers +++++++++++++++++++++ Harleen Kaur United Nations University, International Institute for Global Health, Malaysia harleen_k1@rediffmail.com Ritu Chauhan Amity University, India rituchauha@gmail.com Prasanna Desikan Allina Health, United States |
