UCMC2015: 2nd International Workshop on Urban Computing and Modern Cities 2nd Int. Workshop on Urban Computing and Modern Cities at the 6th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications ( IISA 2015 ), July 06 – 08, 2015, Corfu, Greece http://iisa2015.unipi.gr/ucmc-2nd-international-workshop-on-urban-computing-and-modern-cities/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT DATES Paper submission: 05 May 2015 Acceptance notification: 15 May 2015 Camera ready: 29 May 2015 Conference Dates: 06 - 08 July 2015 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AIM & SCOPE The diffusion of ubiquitous computing into modern cities and the massive use of mobile devices have shifted researchers vision to explore new ideas about the modern cities. Many paradigms are presented applying ubiquitous and pervasive computing to urban spaces focusing on developing city network infrastructures, optimising traffic and transportation flows, lowering energy consumption, etc. Numerous new services are provided to citizens enhancing their daily routine. However, a city is not just infrastructure and services; a city is the people, the place and their interactions. Urban computing lies on the intersection of architecture, social interaction and design of computer systems for use in urban areas. The focus of this workshop is on the future of modern cities exploiting urban computing. This workshop seeks to bring together researchers, practitioners and cities’ stakeholders to discuss and share their ideas and contributions in diffusing urban computing into modern cities and to present their visions and set future directions for transforming modern cities into smart cities. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TOPICS OF INTEREST Middleware for urban computing Context-aware systems for urban space Intelligent transportation systems Citizen mobility modeling, visualization and understanding Urban application demos and visualizations Urban computing for modern city modeling, planning and discovering regions of interest Smart mobility Urban mobility models (pedestrian and vehicular) Public displays for modern cities Modern city smart infrastructure for participation, wellbeing and sustainability Bid city data linked and opened up Digital tools and media connecting people and their experiences with the modern city Urban computing innovative applications for story-telling, game activities, learning processes, artistic installations Impact of urban computing in modern cities e.g. economical, social Sociocultural challenges for smart cities Case studies and best practices Research challenges and vision ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SUBMISSIONS Instructions for Authors Papers must correspond to the requirements detailed in the Submission of Papers which are placed on the Conference Web Site, http://iisa2015.unipi.gr/call-for-papers/ All papers must be presented by one of the authors, who must be registered in advance.
