Event Modeling and Processing in Business Process Management (EMoV2014)
-- 1st Workshop in conjunction with Modellierung 2014, 19th to 21st of March 2014, University of Vienna, Austria -- http://www.emov-workshop.org During business process execution, it is required to collect and process information and events produced by various distributed systems. In a business process, events can be used for, amongst others, monitoring, analyzing, or controlling business process executions. Consequently, activities in a business process can be coordinated or new processes can dynamically be instantiated by events allow-ing processes to be merged, compensated, or replaced. This dynamic interaction of multiple business processes requires the integration of information about events in business process models as well as the implementation and establishment of new modeling paradigms, ideas, and innovations from re-search and industry. The workshop “Event Modeling and Processing in Business Process Management” aims to discuss current challenges, solution proposals, and future research perspectives for modeling business processes including events for dynamic business process execution. The workshop provides a forum for discussions between researchers and practitioners with interest in an evolving field in the area of business process management. The workshop encourages innovative yet unpublished research papers, case studies, and experience reports enabling the modeling of interdependent business processes and event-driven process execution. ========================== Topics of Interest ========================== Relevant topics include, but are not limited to: (1) Models for process execution: - Modeling information of process execution - Modeling reuse of processes, process data, and event information - Model refinement aiming for event-driven process execution - Verification of event information in process models or scenarios - Modeling of compensation, error handling, and recovery options in process models - Utilization of events for case management - Integration of process models and (adaptive) case management (2) Modeling paradigms - Modeling of multiple views on event-driven business processes and their correlation - Abstraction opportunities to visualize and execute event-driven business processes - Distinction of business process management in multiple paradigms and the correlation between them - Transformation of process models between various modeling paradigms - Activity life cycles and their role for modeling and recognition of events (3) Empirical studies - Approved techniques and methods for business process modeling and their event-driven execution - Case studies of business process modeling and their event-driven execution - Experience reports on business process modeling and their event-driven execution (4) Model extensions - Model extensions to consider process execution information - Modeling of event-based conditions in business processes - (Meta) model extensions to consider event information for business process modeling (5) Dynamic processes - Modeling of relationships between business processes based on events (composition, cancellation, triggering, etc.) - Methods to dynamically (re-) use processes, process data, and events in various process scenarios (during process execution) - Dynamic compensation, error handling, and recovery of process data after the occurrence of specific events - Event-driven process execution ========================== Submission Guidelines ========================== Papers can be submitted in German or English as full research paper (max. 12 pages) or short paper (position paper, work in progress; max. 6 pages). The length of the paper must not exceed the mentioned limits including all references and appendices. Papers must contain original contributions that have not been published previously, nor already submitted to other conferences or journals in parallel with this workshop. Each submission is reviewed by at least three experts. Submitted papers must follow the LNI guidelines. Papers should be submitted electronically as a self-contained PDF file using the EasyChair submission site by the deadlines indicated below. Accepted workshop papers are published as post proceedings in the CEUR Workshop Proceedings series.
