The Fifth LAWCC aims at highlighting research, interest, and successful experiences of women in different areas in computing, in order to encourage the active participation of more women. Works and presentations identifying the challenges in Information Technologies (IT) for women in the academy, at enterprises, and in research are expected. This edition is focused on finding ways to approach the recurrent problems relative to the female gender and the interaction with society in this context. LAWCC 2013 will be part of the 39th edition of CLEI 2013, to be held from 7 to 11 October 2013 in Naiguatá, Edo. Vargas, Venezuela. Topics LAWCC 2013 invites to present papers which report original contribution or relevant experiences in the following topics, but not limited to: • Encouraging participation of women in IT areas. • Gender equity and IT • Gender particularities in developing and deploying ITs • Gender particularities in teaching IT. • Analysis of women research activities in ITs • Gender and Human-Computer Interaction • Female leadership models in Computing • Social networks and women • Women participation in decisions making at national and international levels, regarding the use of ITs. • Public policies for women and ITs. Information for Paper Submission Papers could be written in Spanish, Portuguese or English and have to be submitted until May 6th, 2013 in PDF format according to the CLEI 2013 home page (http://clei2013.org.ve/): • Submitted papers must be the result of original research or reports with relevant experiences and should not be published or under evaluation on other conferences and/or journals. • All submitted papers must have a maximum of 12 pages, including figures, references and an abstract of 150 words in one of the official languages accepted by CLEI 2013 (Spanish, Portuguese and English). Submissions written in Spanish or Portuguese, should have an abstract in English.
