On the behalf of the Co-Chairs, Organisers, the Scientific Committee and Elsevier, it is my pleasure to welcome scientists from all over the world to the 14th International Meeting on Molecular Epidemiology and Evolutionary Genetics of Infectious Diseases (MEEGID XIV), to be held at Melia Sitges, Sitges, Spain, 6-9 November 2018.
Organized by Elsevier, MEEGID XIV will include 10 – 15 plenary lectures, 15 – 20 four hour-specialized symposia, and several poster sessions. Special emphasis will be given to health problems of specific interest to the present world: Zika, tuberculosis, AIDS, malaria, cancer and infectious diseases, to name a few. Plenary lectures and symposia will also deal with transversal topics, such as population genetics, evolution, speciation, taxonomy, bioinformatics, whole genome sequencing analysis and -omics analyses. During the conference, awards will be attributed to the best communication, the best communication by a student, the best communication by a scientist from the Southern World and the best poster communication. Each prizewinner will be offered a free 2-year subscription to Infection, Genetics and Evolution. Selected papers communicated in the framework of MEEGID XIV will be published after peer-review in a special issue of Infection, Genetics and Evolution. Attending this conference will enable you to access unique, high-quality content, learn about the latest developments in infectious diseases and epidemiology research from experts in the field, present your latest research to your peers and network with an interdisciplinary group from around the world - including academics and researchers, as well as health and industry professionals. Oral and poster abstracts are invited on the topics below. They should be submitted using the online abstract submission system: https://www.elsevier.com/events/conferences/meegid/submit-abstract Abstract Submission Deadline: 1 June 2018 Conference Topics: Studies dealing with viruses, bacteria, parasitic protoza, fungi and helminths of medical, veterinary or agronomical relevance, related to: Cancer and infectious diseases Micro-and macro-evolution Experimental evolution Co-evolution between hosts, pathogens and vectors In-silico evolution Genetics Genomics Mathematical modelling Molecular diagnosis, epidemiology and taxonomy Proteomics Phylogenetics, phylogenomics, phylogeography |
