---------------------------- IEEE Multimedia Special Issue on Large-Scale Multimedia Corpus, Retrieval and Mining ---------------------------- http://wsmc09.eurecom.fr/MU.CFPLargeScale.htm ** DEADLINE EXTENDED: Sunday 25 Apr 2010: Full submission due.** Recent years have witnessed an explosive growth of multimedia content driven by the wide availability of massive storage devices, high-resolution video cameras and fast networks. Stimulated by recent progress in scalable machine learning, feature indexing and multi-modal analysis techniques, researchers are becoming increasingly interested in exploring challenges and new opportunities for developing much larger scale approaches for multimedia retrieval and mining. Many of these computationally-intensive ideas are now becoming practical because of the broader availability of high-speed clusters and the advent of cloud computing. The IEEE MultiMedia Large-Scale Multimedia Corpus, Retrieval and Mining special issue solicits original articles on large-scale multimedia retrieval and mining that will be of great interest for IEEE MultiMedia readers. The list of possible topics includes, but is not limited to: - Construction, unification and evolution of corpus - Framework for sharing of dataset, ground truth, features, algorithms and tools - Indexing and retrieval for large multimedia collections (including images, video, audio and other multi-modal systems) - Near-duplicate detection over large data sets - Large-scale video event and temporal analysis over diverse sources - Web-scale social-network and content-network analysis - Automatic machine tagging, semantic annotation and object recognition on massive multimedia collections - Collaborative image and video annotation for distributed users - Interfaces for exploring, browsing and visualizing large multimedia collections - Scalable and distributed machine learning and data mining methods for multimedia data - Scalable and distributed multimedia content analysis systems - Performance evaluation methodologies and standards Submission Procedures and Guidelines: Submit your paper at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/cs-ieee. All submissions will undergo a peer review by at least two expert reviewers to ensure a high standard of quality. Referees will consider originality, significance, technical soundness, clarity of exposition, and relevance to the special issue topics. Papers must stay within the following limits: 6,500 words maximum, 12 total combined figures and tables with each figure counting as 200 words toward the total word count, and 18 references.
