INTERACT 2013 - The 14th IFIP TC13 Conference on Human-Computer Interaction, Cape Town, South Africa, 2-6 September 2013.
INTERACT 2013 solicits submissions in a broad range of categories, addressing all aspects of Human-Computer Interaction. The conference theme, “Designing for Diversity”, recognizes the interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and intercultural spirit of human-computer interaction (HCI) research. The conference welcomes research that acknowledges diverse disciplines, abilities, cultures and societies, addressing both the technical and social aspects of HCI. Within the broad umbrella of HCI, we seek high quality contributions opening new and emerging HCI disciplines, bridging cultural differences, and tackling important social problems. INTERACT 2013 provides a forum for practitioners and researchers to discuss all aspects of HCI, but special consideration will be given to papers taking cognisance of the theme of the conference, ‘Designing for Diversity’. INTERACT 2013 is an international conference and all submissions will be peer-reviewed by an international panel of experts. English is the official conference language: all submissions must therefore be written in English. The style of English should be suitable for a global audience of non-native English speakers, using good structure and layout to help the readers navigate. Do not use convoluted English (gobbledygook) and avoid the use of idioms. The first submission deadline, for full research papers, is 8 January 2013 (abstracts), 15 January 2013 (full papers). TOPICS Suggested topics for contributions are (but not limited to): Diversity, inclusivity and sustainability Cross-cultural, intercultural and social issues, including: Designing for local content Designing for resource poverty Designing for marginalised communities ICT in social development Interaction design for developing regions International and cultural aspects of HCI Methods and processes for interface/interaction design, modelling and evaluation, including: Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary spirit of HCI Accessibility and inclusivity Usability / usability evaluation User experience Affective HCI, emotion Motivational needs-driven design Evaluation methods / tools Human factors and HCI Human error and safety Interaction with small or large displays Mobile accessibility / mobile devices Model-based design of interactive systems Tools for design and modelling Usability and Software / Enterprise Engineering User modelling Visualisation techniques Living labs Novel user interfaces and interaction techniques HCI research methods Specific application areas, including: Adaptive interfaces Augmented reality Tangible user interfaces Child-computer interaction Context-dependent / aware systems Fun / aesthetic / creative design HCI education Human-robot interaction Human-work interaction design Mobile interaction design Designing for mobility Multi-modal interfaces Multi-user interaction / cooperation Social media / networks Ubiquitous computing User Interfaces for safety critical systems Human language technology applications Designing for e-health, m-health, telemedicine User interfaces for e-government User interfaces for web-based applications.
