WORKSHOP AIM

The Ontologies in Distributed and Interactive Systems workshop (ODIS'09) will be the third in a series of international workshops dedicated to applications of ontologies to solve practical challenges in designing interactive and distributed systems. It is a unique forum for all of those interested in the convergence of knowledge representation and reasoning and Human Computer Interaction (HCI).
The ODIS'09 workshop is an application-oriented, multi-disciplinary discussion forum for researchers and application developers from diverse disciplines of computer and social sciences who share an interest in using various forms of knowledge representation and reasoning to solve complex HCI challenges and managing user interaction in interactive and distributed systems.

The workshop will seek original contributions from the fields of: Knowledge representation and reasoning, Human-Computer Interaction, Multimodal Interaction, Distributed Systems, Adaptive Systems, Dialog Systems, Expert Systems, Semantic web, Information Retrieval and Multimedia Information Retrieval, Ubiquitous Computing, Smart Places, Pervasive environments, Ambient Intelligence, Assisted Living, Remote Care, Usability and Accessibility design, Software Engineering and Application Development, as well as usability and field studies.

TOPICS OF INTEREST

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) one or more of the following themes:
- Ontologies for user modeling, adaptation and personalisation
- Ontologies in interactive and multimodal systems
- Ontologies in middleware and distributed systems
- Ontologies in expert and decision support systems
- Ontologies for ambient intelligence, smart places and pervasive environments
- Ontologies for accessibility, assistive technology and assisted living
- Ontologies for e-health, tele-care and self-care
- Ontologies in information retrieval and multimedia information retrieval systems
- Ontologies in information management systems
- Ontologies in recommender and expert systems
- Ontologies in e-learning, tutoring and dialogue systems
- Ontologies in web applications and web services
- Various applications of ontologies (e.g. Intelligent Transport Systems, etc.)
