-----------------------------------------------------------
SUMMARY AND THEME ----------------------------------------------------------- The field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) has been extremely successful in the last thirty years, changing computing to the benefit of end users. Advanced mobile, ubiquitous and pervasive computing have dramatically changed the way we interact with information, making human factors an essential part of computer science and informatics in all areas of our daily life. As a complement to the successful NordiCHI series of conferences, which take place in the even years in Northern Europe, SouthCHI, a new to-be-launched series of conferences focusing on every aspect of HCI and addressing participants mainly from Southern Europe, starts with its first issue in July 2013. SouthCHI will be a biannual event, being organized in the odd years, and will visit South European countries. The venue of SouthCHI 2013 is Maribor, Slovenia, a city located just 40 miles south of Graz, Austria. Maribor is the Cultural Capital of Europe 2012, with the cultural capital project going until the end of June 2013, hence SouthCHI will be its very final celebration. In this occasion, South CHI will be also supported by ACM Slovenia and Slovenian Chapter of IEEE Education Society. ----------------------------------------------------------- TOPICS OF INTEREST ----------------------------------------------------------- SouthCHI accepts papers describing results of original research performed in the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), which emphasize new developments. Papers should present significant contributions to research and practice in all areas of Human-Computer Interaction. Authors are invited to submit complete papers which are neither published nor under review elsewhere. The specific topics embraced by the conference include, but are not limited to, the following ones: - all aspects of Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction and Usability Engineering and - Media Communication. Accepted submissions, which are to be presented at the conference, encompass the following categories: full papers, short papers, posters, demos, videos and papers for the doctoral consortium. Suggestions regarding demonstrations, videos and workshop are welcome, as well as organization of special sessions. ----------------------------------------------------------- PUBLICATION ----------------------------------------------------------- All submissions will be reviewed by at least three independent reviewers from SouthCHI programme committee and selected reviewers. Accepted contributions will be printed in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) Series published by Springer (http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs) and indexed in Thomson Reuters Citation Index (http://thomsonreuters.com/products_services/science/science_products/a-z/isi_web_of_knowledge/ ). ----------------------------------------------------------- DEADLINES ----------------------------------------------------------- FULL AND SHORT PAPERS: Paper Submission ------ January 18, 2013 Notification of Acceptance ------ February, 8, 2013 Revised Paper Submission ------ March, 8, 2013 Final Decision ------ April, 5, 2013 Camera Ready Submission ------ April, 30, 2013 Conference dates ------ July 1-3, 2013 POSTERS, DEMOS, VIDEOS, DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM Paper Submission ------ February, 22, 2013 Notification of Acceptance ------ March, 8, 2013 Revised Paper Submission ------ March, 29, 2013 Final Decision ------ April, 16, 2013 Camera Ready Submission ------ April, 30, 2013 Conference dates ------ July 1-3, 2013 SPECIAL SESSION PAPERS Special Session on Human-Computer Interaction & Knowledge Discovery ---- February, 15, 2013 Special Session on Smart Learning Environments ---- February, 15, 2013 WORKSHOP PAPERS Workshop for Gamification and Serious Games in Healthcare ---- February, 22, 2013 Workshop for Assessing the State of HCI Research and Practice in South-Eastern Europe ---- February, 22, 2013 Workshop 'Design Culture for Ageing Well: Designing for ‘Situated Elderliness' ---- February, 14, 2013 SouthCHI is organized by University of Maribor in cooperation with ACM Slovenia and IEEE Slovenia. |
