ORSUM - Workshop on Online Recommender Systems and User Modeling
The Web Conference 2018 (WWW2018), April 23rd, Lyon, France Website: http://webesitix.inesctec.pt/orsum2018 Twitter: https://twitter.com/orsum_ws ################### Overview Modern web-based systems continuously generate data at very fast rates. This continuous flow of data encompasses web content - e.g. posts, news, products, comments -, but also user feedback - e.g. ratings, views, reads, clicks, thumbs up -, as well as context information - device used, geographic info, social network, current user activity, weather. This is potentially overwhelming for systems and algorithms design to work in batch, given the fast rate of change of content, usage patterns and contextual variables. Incremental models that learn from data streams are gaining attention, given their natural ability to deal with data generated in dynamic, complex environments. User modeling and personalization exploits content, user feedback and context in data, and can particularly benefit from algorithms capable of maintaining models incrementally and online, as data is generated. The objective of this workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners interested in incremental and adaptive approaches to recommendation and personalization, as well as other related tasks, such as evaluation, web content mining, context-awareness or architectures. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to: - Incremental user modeling - Incremental recommender systems - Incremental web mining - Incremental text mining - Online learning from user generated data - Online learning from dynamic web content - Online learning from multimedia content - Online learning from social data - Context-aware online learning - Time-aware online learning - Architectures for continuous web data processing - Adaptive algorithms - Online evaluation - Privacy assurance in incremental recommenders - Online parameter optimization ################ Submissions We welcome original, unpublished work in the form of long and short paper submissions via EasyChair at: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=www2018satellites Long papers must not exceed 9 pages - including references - and should report research at a mature stage. We also welcome the submission of preliminary results of ongoing research in the form of short papers with a maximum length of 4 pages. Papers must follow the ACM sigconf template. Review process is double-blind, so authors are required to remove any content that allows author identification. ################### Important dates 2018-01-25: Paper submission deadline 2018-02-25: Author notification 2018-03-04: Camera-ready papers All deadlines are at 9:00PM HAST. ################# Publication Accepted papers will be published by ACM in the Companion volume of The Web Conference 2018 proceedings, provided that the paper is presented at the workshop by one of the authors. Presentations by proxy will be allowed in exceptional cases. ################# Organization Alípio Mário Jorge University of Porto LIAAD - INESC TEC, Porto, Portugal João Vinagre LIAAD - INESC TEC, Porto, Portugal Myra Spiliopoulou Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg, Germany Pawel Matuszyk Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg, Germany ################# Contact E-mail: orsum2018@googlegroups.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/orsum_ws |
