The registration for DiPP2012 conference is open.
DiPP 2012 registration fee is 50 euro (or 100 BG leva). The registration fee includes participation in all sessions/workshops of the conference, conference material, and coffee breaks. To participate in the conference you have to complete a special registration form available at http://dipp2012.math.bas.bg/registration You may pay the conference fee in EUR and BGN currency through a bank transfer or cash at site. The conference organizers will assist the arrangement of the Veliko Tarnovo stay for everybody who asked this before 16 August 2012. Conference Scope: The International Conference on Digital Presentation and Preservation of Cultural and Scientific Heritage – DiPP2012 aims at presenting innovations, research projects and applications in the field of digitisation, documentation, archiving, representation and preservation of global and national tangible and intangible cultural and scientific heritage. The main focus is to provide open access to digitised cultural heritage and to set up sustainable policies for its continuous digital preservation and conservation. A priority area is the digital representation and preservation of cultural and historical objects under conditions of risk, including those under the auspices of UNESCO. The forum will demonstrate innovative technologies and prototypes, including digital repositories, digital archives, virtual museums and digital libraries, which result from established practices and achievements in the field. Representatives will be invited to participate and exchange experiences, ideas, knowledge and best practices of the field from a number of public and specialised libraries, museums, galleries, archives, centres, both national and foreign research institutions and universities. Main Topics of the Conference: Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished research and project papers that are not (and will not be) simultaneously under consideration for publication elsewhere. General areas of interests include (but are not limited to) the following topics: • Digital libraries, e-archives, repositories, virtual museums, e-exhibitions and encyclopedias of cultural heritage. • Digital presentation and preservation of cultural objects under conditions of risk. • 2D and 3D technologies, methods and means for digital restoration and construction of important items of the cultural heritage. • Extensive multimedia repositories and portals for culture and cultural heritage. • Digital libraries and aggregators for transfer of digitised wealth within the European and global digital environment. • Open access to digitised cultural and scientific heritage. • e-Infrastructures for digitised scientific heritage. • Creation and aggregation of content for the European digital library - Europeana. • Interactive environments and innovative Internet-based applications for cultural heritage. • Use, efficiency and design of interfaces for applications in cultural heritage. Multilingualism. • Standards, metadata, ontologies and semantic processing of knowledge about the cultural heritage. Techniques for extracting digital data and knowledge. • Issues of the protection of intellectual property: determination, accreditation and management of rights to digital content. • Sustainable access and long-term availability of cultural content in the digital space. • Educational applications of digital libraries with cultural and scientific content. • Economics of cultural tourism. Accompanying Events: A discussion forum on - issues of the promotion of the free flow of ideas and universal access to cultural and scientific information; - issues of digital presentation and preservation of cultural objects under conditions of risk; - digitisation and digital preservation in the struggle against illicit trafficking of cultural values; Demonstration sessions and an exhibition of digital libraries and repositories preserving national cultural and scientific heritage; A national information day on Open access to scientific information. Paper Submission: Submissions of the following types are envisaged: • Full papers (8-10 pages) • Short papers (5 pages) • Project papers (5 pages) All research papers must be written in English and follow the formatting guidelines of Springer’s Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS), available at: http://www.springer.com/. Authors should clearly indicate the topic/s and the type of the contribution. Papers must be submitted in DOC as attachments to dipp2012(at)math.bas.bg and dessi(at)cc.bas.bg. All papers will be peer-reviewed by at least two members of the program committee. All submissions will be reviewed on the basis of relevance, originality, significance, soundness, and clarity. At least one author should attend the conference to present the paper. Demos, Demonstrations and Exhibitions Memory institution (e.g. public and specialized libraries, museums, galleries, archives, community centres), research institutions and universities are invited to demonstrate their digital content management systems, digital archives, libraries and repositories preserving national cultural and scientific heritage during demonstration sessions. Proposals for participation must be submitted in free text format as attachments to dipp2012(at)math.bas.bg and dessi(at)cc.bas.bg. Slaveykov” (Veliko Tarnovo) The first international conference on Digital Preservation and Presentation of Cultural and Scientific Heritage—DiPP 2011 was held from 11 to 14 September 2011 in the Regional Museum of History and the P.R. Slaveykov Regional People’s Library in Veliko Tarnovo. The forum was attended by 65 people, 25 papers and 8 national and international projects on digitisation and digital preservation of cultural and scientific heritage were presented. The papers were published in a volume of proceedings of the conference as well as online at the official site of the conference: http://dipp2011.math.bas.bg. The site also contains information on the objectives and subject areas of the conference, accompanying events, programme, programme committee, participants, etc. |
