International Workshop on Cost Sensitive Data Mining,
In conjunction with IEEE ICDM 2012 in Brussels, December 10, 2012 Much of the early work on data mining concentrated on developing algorithms that focused on classification accuracy. A more challenging and practical problem is to devise algorithms that learn rules or associations that optimize income and take better account of costs. Thus, for example, in marketing, we are interested in identifying investments that produce greatest income given the cost of marketing. In medical diagnosis we need to take account of the costs of tests required in diagnosis, such as blood tests, x-rays and scans. This workshop aims to bring together researchers and practitioners working on this important and growing research area. Topics of Interest Cost-Sensitive associative rule mining, decision tree induction, and classification Cost-Sensitive clustering Active cost-sensitive learning Budgeted learning Use of uncertainty and fuzzy models for optimizing profit Visualization of cost-sensitive rules Model and taxonomies of time/cost and space/cost Evaluative and comparative studies i.e. cost vs time vs. accuracy Practical applications of cost-sensitive mining including medical diagnosis, finance, e-marketing, etc. Key Dates: August 10, 2012: Due date for full workshop papers October 1, 2012: Notification of paper acceptance to authors October 15, 2012: Camera-ready deadline for accepted papers December 10, 2012: Workshop date Paper Submission Papers are limited to a maximum of *8* pages, and must follow the IEEE ICDM format requirement smade available at: http://icdm2012.ua.ac.be/ Papers must be submitted via the IEEE ICDM Workshop CyberChair submission system Organising Committee Sunil Vadera (Chair), University of Salford, S.Vadera@salford.ac.uk Mohammed Saraee(co-Chair), University of Salford, M.Saraee@salford.ac.uk Susan Lomax, University of Salford, S.E.Lomax@edu.salford.ac.uk Programme Committee: Charles Elkan, University of California, San Diego Wei Fan, IBM John Keane, University of Manchester Dragos Margineantu, Boeing Research & Technology Farid Meziane, University of Salford Goran Nenadic, University of Manchester Victor Sheng, University of Central Arkansas Kevin Small, University of Tufts?
