The Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Winchester is delighted to be hosting a conference on “Gender and Visual Representation”. This event will be held in the City of Winchester, United Kingdom, on Wednesday the 12th September 2012. The call for papers is now open.
The Conference aims to encourage and develop diverse understanding concerning the social category of gender and its relationship to visual representation. We hope to showcase the best work in the area occurring across the United Kingdom, and internationally, as well as to stimulate debate within and between disciplines. We welcome the submission of empirical and theoretical papers from across the full spectrum of gender studies as well as those which critically engage and reflect upon research paradigms and methods. We would particularly welcome papers that seek to address ‘real world’ issues, and in so doing, encourage and contribute toward broader feminist activism.
Please submit proposals for oral papers or poster presentations by Friday 25th May 2012 to Rosemary Lobban at CGSevents@winchester.ac.uk. These should include the name of author(s), their affiliation, a title, a 250 word abstract, and a brief biographical statement. Symposium proposals, comprising four papers, should include the above information as well as an overall title and abstract of 250 words.
Please see www.winchester.ac.uk/CGS for further details concerning the Conference including the submission and registration process.
