********************* CALL FOR PAPERS *********************

The 2013 Workshop on Rough Set Applications (RSA 2013)
Dalhousie University, Halifax, October 10, 2013
cs.smu.ca/jrs2013/pages/RSA2013-CFP.pdf

*******************************************************************

Rough sets were introduced by Zdzislaw Pawlak (1982). From the outset, they led to a number of methods of data mining and knowledge discovery. In their abstract form, they are a new area of uncertainty mathematics.

The objective of RSA 2013 is to showcase the real-world applications of rough sets and other methods of data exploration and approximate computation. The special emphasis will be put on hybrid solutions combining rough sets with other tools, as well as the importance of utilization of domain knowledge in the data mining and data processing solutions.

RSA 2013 will be held on October 10 at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It will feature three plenary talks co-organized with the 2013 Workshop on Rough Set Theory (cs.smu.ca/jrs2013/pages/RST2013-CFP.pdf). It will be followed by the 2013 Joint Rough Set Symposium (cs.smu.ca/jrs2013/) held on October 11-14 at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax – the major rough set conference in 2013.

RSA 2013 solicits original research prepared in a form of full length scientific papers, position papers and short abstracts. It is open for academicians and practitioners from industry. It is equally open for rough set experts and people who like to know more about rough set applications in the areas that they are interested in.

PAPER SUBMISSION

Each paper should have no more than ten (10) pages in the Springer-Verlag LNCS style (www.springer.com/lncs), including figures, tables and references. The authors are invited to submit their papers and abstracts via the JRS 2013 electronic paper submission system (www.easychair.org/account/signin.cgi?conf=jrs2013).

The accepted and presented papers will become available online at the homepage of International Rough Set Society (www.roughsets.org), unless the authors prefer not doing this. Selected accepted and presented papers will be considered for extension and publication in special issues of scientific journals, including International Journal of Rough Sets and Data Analysis (www.igi-global.com/IJRSDA) and International Journal of Fuzzy System Applications (www.igi-global.com/IJFSA).

IMPORTANT DATES

Paper submission deadline: July 30, 2013
Paper decision notification: August 20, 2013
Registration: August 30, 2013

We look forward to meeting with you in Halifax!
