A Call for Papers on Electromagnetics in current and emerging Energy and Power Systems.
The control systems for emerging renewable energy plants are sophisticated electronic systems and there are inevitable EMC issues to consider. The designs of high efficiency photovoltaic systems involve EM energy of extremely short wavelength. There are new concerns regarding the effects of stray magnetic fields from undersea cable on sea-life. Wind farms disrupt surveillance radar performance and are a prime target for Lightning strike; solutions to these two issues are in part, electromagnetic. Finally, in order to achieve the extreme efficiencies required, high temperature super-conductors are being seriously explored. Papers will be accepted on the following topics: EMC issues on power systems control EM efficiency improvements in photo-voltaics Stray fields in under-sea cable systems. Modelling & implementation of high temperature super-conductors RF scattering from wind turbines Lightning protection on wind turbine blades To inform the power industry of available approaches to EM problems of relevance Provide a networking opportunity across the industry and the EM community |
