International Symposium on Wearable Computers (ISWC) 2010

Date: 10th~13th, October, 2010

Venue: COEX, Seoul, South Korea

*** UPDATED DEADLINE: 30th of May, 2010 ***

Dear All

"ISWC 2010 will be held in KOREA!"

ISWC'10, the fourteenth annual IEEE International Symposium on Wearable Computers, is
the premier forum for wearable computing and issues related to on-body and worn mobile
technologies. This year, ISWC will be held in Korea, the world famous IT country and
center of east Asia. You can feel Korean Dynamism in IT during ISWC 2010.

ISWC'10 will bring together researchers, product vendors, fashion designers, textile
manufacturers, users, and related professionals to share information and advances in
wearable computing. ISWC 2010 explicitly aims to broaden its scope to include novel
wearable applications on mobile phones, advanced HCI for TV, Home theater, latest
research in wearable devices for healthcare and fitness monitoring, body sensor
networks, and advances in electronic textiles. We solicit papers on the following
topics:

1. Wearable Systems
- Innovations in wearable system design and electronic textiles
- Wearable sensors, wearable displays and actuators, novel input devices
- Interaction design, industrial design of wearable systems
- Wearable sensing to detect the wearer's context or location, activity recognition
- Software and service architectures, infrastructure based as well as ad-hoc systems
- Wearable operating systems, dependability, fault-tolerance, and security
- Networks, wireless networks, body networks, and interaction with other systems
- Cooperative wearables, ensembles of wearable artefacts, coordination of wearables
- Techniques for power management, heat dissipation, and manufacturing issues
2. Usability, HCI and Human Factors in Wearable Computing
- Human factors issues with and ergonomics of body worn computing systems
- User modeling, user evaluation, usability engineering of wearable systems
- Systems and designs for combining wearable and pervasive/ubiquitous computing
- Hands-free interfaces, speech-based interaction, sensory augmentation
- Haptics in wearable systems, wearable robots
- Social implications, health risk, environmental and privacy issues
- Wearable technology for social-network computing, visualization and augmentation
3. Applications of Wearable Systems
- Industrial environments: improving work flow, security, and worker conditions
- Wearable systems as part of augmented reality, training, and collaborative work
- Formal evaluation of wearable technologies, comparisons with others
- Wearables, electronic jewelry and smart clothing in culture, fashion and the arts
- Health care devices, 'in vivo' monitoring of patients, sports and fitness applications
- Empowering people with disabilities, assisted living technologies
- Smart Phone as wearable application platform
- Advanced HCI for TV, Home theater (LCD TV)

Submissions
We invite you to submit your work to the regular session as one of the following: long
papers, notes, and posters (no longer than eight, four, and 2 pages in IEEE format,
respectively), for which a double-blind review process will be adopted. These will be
published by the IEEE Computer Society Press as printed proceedings, and on-line via
IEEE XPlore (approval pending). Papers, posters, Video Papers , Demonstrations,
tutorials and workshops must be submitted electronically through the submission web
site, which will be linked off of the main web site at http://www.iswc.net (the ISWC
2010 web site is under preparation). Papers and posters will be fully reviewed by an
international Program Committee, and the authors of accepted submissions will have the
opportunity to update their submissions based on the reviews before the final electronic
copy is due. ISWC 2010 requires electronic submission. Reviewers will be instructed to
maintain the confidentiality of all materials for submitted papers throughout the entire
reviewing process. Submissions should contain no information that will be proprietary or
confidential at the time of publication.

Additionally, demonstrations, videos, late breaking results, tutorials and workshops are
sollicited for. ISWC'10 will publish adjunct proceedings which will include the late
breaking results, video papers, demonstrations, and design papers of selected workshops.
Prospective authors are invited to submit four-page manuscripts, including figures,
tables and references, to the official ISWC 2010 website.

Demonstrations
To apply to perform a demonstration, please submit (i) a one-page summary that describes
what you plan to demonstrate, including a 200 word abstract and (ii) a photo or diagram
to be included in the demonstration handout alongside the abstract (minimum size 640 x
480 pixels). Demonstrations will not be published in the main conference proceedings.
Accommodations (power, space, etc…) will be limited, so participants should plan to be
mobile and self-supported.

Video papers
Video clips should be no longer than 8 minutes and be accompanied by a 4 page (or
approx. 2000 words) written summary. Video paper submissions should be formatted in
Springer LNCS single column format, and not exceeding 4 pages.

Tutorials & Workshops
A two-page tutorial or workshop proposal should include a clear description of the topic
area, objectives, and the intended audience (experience level and prerequisites).
Tutorial proposals should also include a 200-word abstract, a topical outline of the
content, and a summary of the qualifications of the instructor(s). Be sure to include
the contact name, affiliation, address, telephone number, electronic mail address, and
associated URL for each instructor or organizer.

Important Dates
Submission:
- Papers & Notes & Posters: 30th May
- Video Papers & Demos: 30th May
Notification: 17th July
Final Version: 21th August
