IEEE International Workshop on Data Integration and Mining (DIM-2012)
in conjunction with THE 13th IEEE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON INFORMATION REUSE AND INTEGRATION (IRI-2012) (http://www.sis.pitt.edu/~iri2012/) Las Vegas, Nevada, USA August 8-10, 2012 The focus of this workshop is associated with data integration and mining requirements and services due to the large-scale generation of social, sensor, mobile, networking and other types of data stored in various data repositories, such as databases, data warehouses, and Web. However, how to integrate those data resources with different structures or ontologies to enable effective learning and discovery of useful knowledge is still one of the most significant challenges. Moreover, the recent progress on new devices and platforms makes it possible to build new data integration and mining tools/applications for new available data formats and multi-model interaction systems that enable automatic data representation, analysis, and delivery. This also attracts more and more attentions from some specific domains, like bioinformatics, multimedia, finance, healthcare, marketing, insurance, telecommunications, etc. The aim of this workshop is to provide a forum for original high-quality research contributions on data integration and mining techniques and applications as well as multidisciplinary research opportunities. Topics of interest include but are not limited to practical areas that span a variety of aspects of data integration and mining including * Large-scale data integration and mining * Metadata integration and management * Data security and privacy * Social media data analysis and computing * Web-scale data mining and semantic discovery * Network data integration and delivery * Data filtering and cleaning * Data integration environments and applications * Data models, schemas and ontologies * Database integration systems * Data management and analysis in specific application domains SUBMISSIONS Authors are invited to submit a paper up to 8 pages (in English) in double-column IEEE format following the submission guidelines available at the IRI-2012 web page. Papers must be original and not submitted to or accepted by any other conference or journal. An electronic version (PDF format) of the full paper should be submitted by the paper submission deadline to EasyChair (IEEE IRI 2012 submission) (https://www.easychair.org/account/signin.cgi?conf=iri2012) and please select the “DIM-2012 Workshop”. All submissions will be acknowledged. More information is available on the IRI 2012 web page. Each paper will be peer reviewed by at least two experts in the topical area. Papers accepted by the workshops will be published in the conference proceedings published by IEEE Computer Society Press. Outstanding papers will be selected for extension and publication in the International Journal of Multimedia Data Engineering and Management (IJMDEM). IMPORTANT DATES Regular paper submission: April 16, 2012 Notification of acceptance: May 10, 2012 Camera-ready & author registration: May 24, 2012 ORGANIZING COMMITTEE (Any general questions regarding the workshop should be directed to workshop co-chairs.)
