Members of the international wireless networks research community have for many years split their conference activity among a number of IFIP-sponsored events, including PWC (Personal Wireless Communications) – since 1996, MWCN (Mobile and Wireless Communication Networks) – since 1998 and WSAN (Wireless Sensors and Actor Networks) – since 2007. In 2008, PWC and MWCN steering committees joined forces to establish Wireless and Mobile Networking Conference event series, the first of which was held in Toulouse (France). As of 2009, WMNC welcomes another pillar, Wireless Sensors and Actor Networks (WSAN), and will be held at Gdansk University of Technology, on September 9th – 11th 2009, under the name 2nd Joint IFIP Wireless and Mobile Networking Conference. It will consist of three tracks reflecting topics originally covered by the three constituent conferences.
The topics cover, but are not necessarily limited to, the following research areas in three main tracks: 14th PWC conference track * Management and control: handoff management * QoS: QoS support in mobile and wireless networks, Admission control, QoS for voice and video in wireless/mobile networks * Security and privacy in mobile and wireless networks, AAA-Authentication, Authorization and Accounting in mobile and wireless networks * Internet: Wireless Internet, Transport layer issues in mobile and wireless networks * Modeling and performance evaluation of wireless and mobile networks 11th MWCN conference track * Architectures, protocols and technologies for mobile and wireless networks * Evolution of 3G systems, 3G/4G networks, Future generation systems and networks * Convergence: Protocols and platforms for convergence, IP Multimedia Subsystem, Integration of heterogenous mobile and wireless networks * Wireless multimedia networking, Multicasting and broadcasting issues * Mobile computing * Mobile and wireless applications and services 3rd WSAN conference track * Analysis, simulation and measurement * Ad-Hoc networking * Coordination in actor networks * Communication protocols * Cross-layer optimizations * Energy-efficient protocols and power management * Localization and tracking * Middleware * Physical architecture * Real-time communications in actor networks * Robots as actor nodes * WSAN applications There will be a special session devoted to IMS interoperability organized by the NetLab CELTIC project |
