Internet provides a globally successful open infrastructure for the delivery of heterogeneous services and applications for voice, video and text. Service-oriented wireless and wired networks could make the next generation communications and networking more robust, scalable, and cost-effective. The evolution of service-oriented next generation networks is being carried forward by industry, government, and academia representing a variety of fields and backgrounds – communications and networking, computer engineering, and information technology. With the rapid increases in the service heterogeneity, information volume, and system complexity, new architectures and techniques are required to support the deployment of attractive, reliable and secure service-oriented networks. SONet-2014 will bring together computer scientists and engineers in different disciplines to share and exchange their experiences and ideas and discuss state-of-the-art and in-progress research on all aspects of service-oriented next generation networks. Contributions are invited for the SONet-2014 by submitting an extended abstract addressing research challenges and advances towards the design, implementation and evaluation of service-oriented next generation networks.
Topics of particular interests include the following tracks, but are not limited to: * Information centric networking * Social networking * P2P multimedia networks * Wireless networks and systems * Cloud computing * Context-aware services * IMS and NGN services * Multimedia traffic * Scalability of large-scale IP networks * Security and privacy * Resource management * Energy consumption and energy management * Mobility, handoff, and location management * Cross-layer design and optimization * Performance modelling and evaluation |
