Concurrent systems, based on (distributed) multi/many-core processing units, are
the nowadays reference computing architecture. The (continuously-growing) level of hardware parallelism they offer has led these platforms to play a central role at any scale, ranging from data centres to personal (mobile) devices. Optimising performance and ensuring energy efficiency when running complex software stacks on top of these systems are incredibly challenging due to several aspects like data dependencies or resource sharing (and interference) among application threads, as well as VMs. Furthermore, hardware accelerators like GPGPUs or FPGAs introduce a level of heterogeneity that can potentially offer further opportunities for combined gain in performance and energy efficiency, if correctly exploited. The goal of this workshop is to establish a venue for both academia and industry experts and practitioners, where they can discuss challenges, perspectives and opportunities are given by researching on scalable, energy-efficient and secure software deployed on top of modern (heterogeneous) concurrent platforms. High-quality research papers are solicited in all aspects of performance assessment, modelling, optimisation, and energy efficiency in concurrent systems, including (but not limited to) the following ones: - Parallel and concurrent programming frameworks - Heterogeneous computing - Parallel/Distributed simulation systems - Runtime environments for HPC or daily usage software - Shared and concurrent data structures - Data management and services - Non-blocking synchronisation - Operating Systems - Virtualization support - Networking functions - Security We welcome: - full-length submissions of up to 8 pages, including references - work-in-progress papers of up to 4 pages, including references *** Submission *** All submissions will be reviewed using a double-blind review process, i.e., the identity of authors and referees will not be revealed to each other. To ensure blind reviewing, authors’ names and affiliations should not appear in the paper, and bibliographic references should be suitably modified. Papers must be prepared by using an official ACM Master Article Template (https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template). Template files for Microsoft Word and LaTeX2e are provided on their website. Please make sure that your paper strictly adheres to the ACM Master Article Template formatting style by using one of the provided template files. Papers must be written in English. Submissions should use ACM conference proceedings format (double column, single space). The page limit is 8 pages, including references (up to 4 pages including references for short papers). Reviews are double-blind; thus, all identifying information must be removed from the manuscript: this includes removing authors’ names and affiliations, acknowledgements, funding information, and all references to the authors’ work that would disclose their identity. This information can be later added to accepted manuscripts. Papers must be unpublished and must not be submitted for publication elsewhere. The following information must accompany each submission: - a short abstract, - a complete list of authors and their affiliations, - a contact person for correspondence, and - postal and email addresses. Papers must be submitted using the EasyChair submission system: https://easychair.org/my/conference?conf=pecs2022 All accepted papers will be published in the ACM Digital Library. *** Important Dates *** - Abstract Submission: Jan 10, 2022 - Paper Submission: Jan 15, 2022 - Paper Notification of Acceptance: Feb 05, 2022 - Camera-Ready Submission: Feb 15, 2022 - Workshop: Apr 9 or 10, 2022 *** Organizing Committee *** *General Chair:* Dr. Alessandro Pellegrini, National Research Council, Italy *Program Chair:* Dr. Romolo Marotta, University of L'Aquila, Italy |
