The International Workshop on Information and Assistive Technology for People with Disability (IATPD'12) http://egyptscience.net/ATE12/ Under the framework of the International Conference on Advanced Machine Learning Technologies and Applications (AMLTA2012) that will be held on December 8-10, 2012 in Cairo, Egypt. http://egyptscience.net/ATE12/ =========================================== ======================== = General Information = ======================== Many people around the world have significant limitations in their ability to perform one or more important life functions. These limitations either are present from birth or result from injury, disease, or aging. They often result in disability and, less often but still commonly, in handicaps. Whether a disability becomes a handicap depends on the interaction of the disabled person with the physical and social environments surrounding that person, and many other factors. Technology is one of those other factors. The influence of technology is felt in nearly every dimension of the lives of disabled people and in policies relating to disabilities. The objective of this workshop is to provide a scientific forum gathering people from academia, research, and industry for discussing the recent advances in information technology that support the disabled people. ====================== = Topics of Interest = ====================== Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: · Assistive technology · A Gesture Recognition Architecture for Sign Language · A Computer-Based Tactile Drawing Tool for Blind People · Development of Dialogue Systems for a Mobility Aid for Blind People · Touching and Hearing GUI's · Combining Haptic and Braille Technologies · Interactive Tactile Display System · World Wide Web for People with Disabilities · Wireless brain technology for physical disabled people · Sign Languages · Collaborative Computing · Speech and language processing · Supportive, adaptive, and multimodal user interfaces · Interactive educational environments · Visualization and collaboration · HCI for the social web · Multi-user interaction analysis · Interactive machine learning · Security and privacy issues · Brain Computer Interactions · Ubiquitous and Context-Aware Computing · 3D Human Computer Interaction · Intelligent user interfaces ========================= = Submission Guidelines = ========================= Authors are invited to submit original research contributions not concurrently submitted elsewhere (Submission system). Normal length papers should be between 8 and 10 pages, formatted in Springer’s single column format (detailed instructions for submissions are given below). Short papers should be between 5 and 7 pages. Submitted papers will be refereed by at least three reviewers for quality, correctness, originality, and relevance. Notification and reviews will be communicated via email. Papers reporting original research results and experience are solicited. Each paper, written in English, should be no more than 8 pages in the LNCS Springer style, including references and illustrations. E-submissions in PDF format are strongly recommended.
