*** Final CALL FOR PAPERS for QI Symposium ***

The Sixth International Symposium on Quantum Interaction (QI'2012),
http://qi-2012.quantuminteraction.org/, 27th – 29th June 2012, Paris, France.

After highly successful previous meetings
- QI'2007 at Stanford,
- QI'2008 at Oxford,
- QI'2009 at Saarbrücken,
- QI'2010 at Washington DC,
- QI'2011 at Aberdeen,
the Sixth International Quantum Interaction Symposium will take place in Paris, France from 26 to 29 June 2012.

*** Description ***

The International Quantum Interaction Symposium series provides a unique cross-disciplinary forum for researchers. Quantum Interaction (QI) is an emerging field which is applying Quantum Theory (QT) to domains such as economics, organisations and social interaction, psychology, artificial intelligence, human language, cognition, information retrieval, biology, political science. The application areas addressed typically operate at a macroscopic scale and can not be considered quantum in a quantum mechanical sense; however, they may share many key properties with quantum systems including: Non-commutativity of measurement, Indeterminacy, Non-separability, Contextuality, Harmonic oscillations.

*** Aims and Scope ***

This symposium will bring together researchers interested in how QI interfaces can be applied directly to solve problems in non-quantum domains more efficiently or to address previously unsolved problems. Papers addressing one or more of the following broad content areas are welcome:

- Complex Systems
- Semantic representation and processing
- Logic and epistemology
- Information processing and Retrieval
- Cognition and brain (memory, cognitive processes, neural networks, consciousness)
- Decision theory (political, psychological, organisational, social, etc.)
- Game Theory
- Finance, economics and social structures (e.g., organisations, institutions, cultures)
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Biological Systems

Papers that address the application of the following QI topics to modelling cognitive, social, and semantic processes for AI will be considered favourably:

- Vector methods (beyond just proximity)
- Entanglement (i.e., non-separability arising from product structures)
- Projection and non-commutativity
- Operators as predicates
- Quantization
o How do we get from (apparently) continuous stimuli to clearly discrete expressions?
o How does collapse happen?
o How does the future (a range of potentialities) become the past (one outcome has been selected and cannot change)?
- Non-classical probabilistic models
- Normalization and expectation
- Prediction

There will be two keynote presentations by Prof. Michel Bitbol (École Polytechnique, Paris, France) and Prof. Philippe Grangier (École Polytechnique, Paris, France) respectively. Tutorials by Peter Bruza on Semantic Space (Queensland University of Technology, Australia), Ariane Lambert-Mogiliansky on Modelling Indeterminacy in Decision-making (Paris School of Economics), Dominic Widdows, Information Processing and Retrieval (Microsoft, USA) are planned.

The post-conference proceedings of QI'2012 will be published by Springer in its Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series. Authors will be required to submit a final version 14 days after the conference to reflect the comments made at the conference. We will also consider organizing a special issue for a suitable journal to publish selected best papers.
