Call For Papers

Special Session on

Evolutionary Multiobjective Optimization

during the

22nd Intl. Conference on Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM 2013)
June 17--21, 2013 in Malaga, Spain
http://emoatmcdm.gforge.inria.fr/

Submission deadline: January 31, 2013 (full papers and abstracts)
Organizers: D. Brockhoff, B. Derbel, A. Liefooghe, and S. Verel

Research on evolutionary multiobjective optimization (EMO) deals---opposed
to many multicriteria decision making (MCDM) approaches---with stochastic
algorithms that are able to find multiple (near) Pareto-optimal solutions
in a single algorithm run. Evolutionary algorithms and other classes of
metaheuristics are often used to solve difficult problems arising in both
combinatorial and continuous multiobjective optimization. The goal of the
EMO session as well as of an associated special issue (to be announced
later) is to present to the general MCDM audience salient current
research and application studies using evolutionary multiobjective
optimization methodologies. Moreover, the special session is going to
be a nice opportunity to bring together researchers from the two main
research fields in multiobjective optimization and decision making in
order to foster collaborations and bringing the fields of EMO and MCDM
closer together.

We are welcoming high quality papers in all theoretical, developmental,
implementational, and applied aspects of EMO and decision making though
papers focusing on combining EMO and MCDM methodologies are highly
encouraged. All full papers will be reviewed by at least three different
reviewers. Authors of accepted papers will be then invited to present
their work within the EMO session at the MCDM'2013 conference. Authors
that would like to give a talk within the session without submitting a
full paper are asked to submit an abstract (350 words max.) by e-mail by
the same deadline of January 31, 2013. Topics of interest include, but
are not limited to
* comparisons between different (also exact) techniques
* EMO for dynamic optimization
* distributed and parallel EMO
* handling a large number of objectives
* hybrid EMO methodologies
* innovative applications
* interactive EMO
* multiobjectivization studies
* neighborhood and variation operators
* performance metrics
* preference articulation in EMO
* search space analysis of multiobjective problems
* set-based MCDM approaches
* theoretical foundations of EMO
* uncertainty handling

Please note that, whereas the acceptance of a full paper allows to travel
to Malaga with the certainty of a peer-reviewed journal publication
(journal to be announced later), an accepted abstract allows to give a
talk only and does not guarantee a publication as no conference proceedings
will be published. More details on the submission procedures can be found
on the web page http://emoatmcdm.gforge.inria.fr/.
