Dear colleagues,
The Archaeological Institute “Vasile Pârvan” Bucharest and its partner institutions are pleased to announce the organization of the 13th Colloquium on Roman Provincial Art. Being aware of your previous research and interests, we would like to invite you to attend the manifestation. The application should contain: author’s name and address, title, summary and proposed type of the presentation. Time and place: BUCHAREST – ALBA IULIA - CONSTANŢA, May 28th - June 3rd, 2013. The main subject of the Colloquium: Cult and votive monuments in the Roman provinces: Sculpture techniques, sources of stone material, craftsmanship and decoration– Iconography and symbolism. Other subjects: Original display and the afterlife of cult and votive monuments in the Roman provinces in the Roman time and Late Antiquity Recent finds (on posters). Types of presentations: a/ Synthesis (20 minutes, plus 10 minutes discussion); b/ Presentation of particular monument or group of monuments (20 minutes, plus 10 minutes discussion); c/ Posters (presenting news on recent finds). The colloquium can host only 50-55 presentations and a maximum of 60 posters. Therefore is not possible for one author to give both kinds of presentations. The official Colloquium languages are: English, German, French, Italian and Spanish. Application deadline: Title and abstract (up to 1000 words) of the contributions, in digital and written form, must be submitted to the contact address by April 2nd, 2012. The Colloquium proceedings will be published until 2015 in a dedicated volume in the series IMΛGINES focused on the main topic of the Colloquium.
