Conference focus:
Journals from developing and transition countries striving for international excellence and recognition. Topics of interest: - strategic issues of journals publishing in developing and transition countries - ethical dimension of publishing - local and regional journals evaluation - technologies to support high-quality journal publishing - open access in developing and transition countries Major invited speakers: (1) Professor Stevan Harnad, Université du Québec à Montréal and Southampton University, UK (2) Professor Ana Marušić, University of Split, School of Medicine, Split, Croatia (3) James Testa, Vice President, Editorial Development & Publisher Relations at Thomson Reuters Satellite programmes: The conference will be preceded by two satellite events: (1) Workshop on CrossRef services, to provide the latest developments with CrossCheck and CrossMark, as well as a case study from a CrossRef member; and (2) ScholarOne Manuscripts: A peer review workflow management system by Thomson Reuters, to provide an overview of ScholarOne Manuscripts as a vehicle to improve journal management process, as well as chances to reach Web of Science and get an Impact Factor. Both seminars will be open to all participants at no additional costs. Submission procedure and dates: All submission and reviewing operations will be handled through OCS-based electronic submission system. Deadlines: for abstracts: February 25, 2012 for short/poster papers: March 25, 2012 for full papers: April 15, 2012 Abstract: A two-stage submission procedure is followed. As a first step, you are invited to submit an abstract of no more than 500 words. All submissions will be peer-reviewed. Relevance for the conference topics will be used as the main admission criterion. A clear explanation of relevancy, context, questions to be addressed, methodology, and main findings is requested. Bibliographic references have to be appended. It has to be indicated whether the intended presentation is for (1) full, six-page paper, (2) short/poster, two-page paper, or (3) abstract-only/mad minutes presentation. Papers: Authors of accepted abstracts will receive an invitation to submit papers. Invitation will be accompanied by reviewers’ remarks and suggestions. Papers are required to demonstrate originality. Full papers should be up to six pages long. Authors of accepted full papers will be invited to present their work at the 5BOAC. Each presentation will last 20 minutes and be followed by 10 minutes of questions and/or discussion. Short papers (up to two-pages long) will be presented in the form of posters. Detailed instructions about paper submission is available on the conference website. Publishing Policy: The language of conference proceedings is English, as is official language of the conference. Papers should be prepared by using a Word template downloaded from the 5BOAC website. All accepted contributions will be published in Conference proceedings, be it as full papers, short papers, or abstracts depending on author(s) choice, as well as reviewers’ assessment of the quality and relevance. Author of some unaccepted full papers will be encouraged to resubmit them as short papers. All authors will be given opportunity to present their submissions including abstracts-only submissions, at least within mad minutes session. Reviewing: All submitted papers will be double blind reviewed, each by at least two independent reviewers. Reviewing will be performed by the members of Programme Committee listed on the conference website. In some cases, especially when conflict of interest is at stake, outside experts will be invited to serve as reviewers. Organizer: CEON/CEES is a virtual R&D institute. Pulls together experts from various Serbian institutions in a non-for-profit organization to develop methods and tools intended for the evaluation, as well as for promotion of research results produced in Serbia. Along with National Library of Serbia, as strategic partner, works on integration of the national system of S&T information and its harmonization with EU standards.
