29th BRAZILIAN SYMPOSIUM ON DATABASES (SBBD 2014)
October 6 to 9, 2014 - Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil http://www.inf.ufpr.br/sbbd-sbsc2014/ CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS GENERAL INFORMATION SBBD is the official database event of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC). SBBD is the largest venue in Latin America for presentation and discussion of research results and applications in the database domain. It usually gathers 500 attendees. Past editions of SBBD have been organized in cooperation with ACM/SIGMOD and partially sponsored by the VLDB Endownment. Along with technical sessions, the symposium includes invited talks and tutorials given by distinguished speakers from the national and international database research community. SBBD also promotes a Thesis Workshop, a Demos (Tools) Session and a Poster Session as co-located events. In its 29th edition, the symposium will be held in the city of Curitiba, in the state of Paraná, Brazil, from October 6 to 9, 2014. It will be organized by the Universidade Federal do Paraná, Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná and Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná. SUBMISSION INFORMATION For the 2014 edition, SBBD will accept two kinds of submissions: * JIDM articles. Submissions in this category should present interesting results or novel thought-provoking ideas in any of the topics of interest. They must be written in English and not exceed 12 pages, according to the format of the Journal of Information and Data Management (JIDM). The templates for submission are available at http://bit.ly/1eil5co. Articles must be submitted by the deadline through EasyChair at https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=jidmvol5 * SBBD proceedings. Submissions in this category should present initial results or on-going work in any of the topics of interest. They must be written in Portuguese or English and not exceed 10 pages, according to the format of the SBC. The templates for submission are available at http://bit.ly/1coeoWk. Papers must be submitted by the deadline through EasyChair website at https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=sbbd2014 SBBD submissions must not have been simultaneously submitted to any other forum (conference or journal), nor should they have already been published elsewhere. The acceptance of a paper implies that at least one of its authors will register for the symposium to present it. Submissions will be reviewed based on originality, relevance, technical soundness and clarity of presentation. The review process of JIDM submissions is performed in two rounds. The first one includes the initial evaluation of the articles. These selected submissions should be revised based on the reviewers’ comments and submitted again for a second round, in which the papers will face a fast-track revision. Final selected articles will be published in the Journal of Information and Data Management (JIDM) and presented at SBBD. The review process of SBBD proceedings submissions is performed in one round with a rebuttal phase. All authors will be notified with the reviews and then will have one week for answering the reviewers' comments during the rebuttal phase. After evaluating the rebuttal comments, a final decision will be sent to the authors. Final selected papers will be published in the Proceedings of the SBBD and presented during the symposium. Each submission will be evaluated by three members of the Program Committee. For further information, contact the Program Committee Chair: Mirella M. Moro at mirella@dcc.ufmg.br (please use [SBBD2014] as the email subject).
