Authors publishing a book or magazine article should go to the AAAI Press or AI Magazine web pages for instructions specific to those publications. Congratulations on having a paper selected for inclusion in an AAAI Press proceedings or technical report! The following instructions detail the requirements necessary to get your accepted paper published: You MUST use the latest AAAI Press Word template or LaTeX macro (last revised in January, 2011) Download the author kit Complete, sign, and return by the deadline the AAAI Copyright form (proceedings authors) or distribution license (technical report authors). Read and format your paper source and PDF according to the formatting instructions for authors. Name your finished electronic source archive with your last (family) name. (The system will automatically renames your uploaded files, but when we decompress your source file archive, we want the directory name to be something recognizable) Register on our conference publication site and submit your electronic camera-ready files, source files, and abstract on time. AAAI imposes some requirements on your source and PDF files that must be followed. Most of these requirements are based on our efforts to standardize conference manuscript properties and layout. These requirements are as follows, and all papers submitted to AAAI for publication must comply: All Documents All fonts must be embedded in the PDF file Your title must follow US capitalization rules Two-column format in AAAI style is required for all papers The paper size for final submission must be US letter (for both source as well as PDF) The document margins must be as specified in the formatting instructions. The number of pages and the file size must be as specified for your event. No document may have password protection PDFs must not contain embedded links or bookmarks You may not use gif files as illustrations in your document Your source and PDF must not have any page numbers, footers, or headers Your PDF must be distilled at 1,200 dpi or higher Your PDF must be compatible with Acrobat 5. LaTeX-Specific Requirements All the requirements for "All Documents" plus the following: You must submit a single .tex file containing the source for your entire paper (including the bibligraphy) No type 3 fonts may be used (even in illustrations) (if you don't know the difference, read Rick Groff's article on Converting LaTeX to PDF. Your title must follow US capitalization rules LaTeX documents must use Times or Nimbus fonts (i.e., the times package) (do not use Computer Modern for the text of your paper) No LaTeX 2.09 documents may be used or submitted (use LaTeX 2e) Two-column format using an unaltered copy of the latest version of aaai.sty is required for all papers The hyperref package may not be used in LaTeX The natbib package may not be used in LaTeX The geometry package may not be used in LaTeX Word Specific Requirements All the requirements for "All Documents" plus the following: Fonts that require non-English language support (CID and Identy-H) must be converted to outlines You may not alter aaai.doc to A4 or otherwise change the page setup and margins. The latest (2011) version of the AAAI Word template must be used If you use Word for Windows Equations and your document is improperly formatted, we will be unable to fix it. Use MathType instead PDFs and Word source must not be set up to contain embedded links or bookmarks Source Submission If you used Microsoft Word, you must supply your "doc" file. If you used LaTeX, you must supply all your LaTeX source files, including (but not limited to) referenced style files, graphics files, bibliography files, (.bbl, .bst), dvi, .aux, and so forth, and you must use aaai.sty. Your files should work without any supporting files (other than the program itself) on any computer. That's it! Links to the specific forms and instructions follow.
